Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Issa Kabore as a potential replacement for Emerson Royal.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Spurs are keen to strengthen their right-back position, especially with the expected departure of Emerson Royal to AC Milan in the coming weeks.
This would leave the Spaniard Pedro Porro as the primary option, creating a need for another player to maintain adequate squad depth.
Romano highlighted that Tottenham admires Kabore, who impressed during his loan spell at Luton Town last season. Despite signing versatile Leeds United youngster Archie Gray, who can also operate on the right side of the defence, Spurs still require another dedicated right-back.
Kabore, a 23-year-old Burkina Faso international, joined Manchester City in July 2020 and has since gained experience through various loan spells.
His performance at Luton Town, where he made 24 Premier League appearances last season, showcased his reliability and capability as a right-back. Valued at around £12 million, Kabore presents an appealing option for the Lilywhites. (Transfermarkt)
While Kabore is highly regarded by Tottenham, Romano noted that he is not the only player being considered. Spurs are exploring multiple options to ensure they find the right fit for their defensive needs.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, the Italian journalist stated:
“Tottenham would look to fill the gap, for sure, because they have Pedro Porro, but they would need one more player.
“It’s true that Kabore at Manchester City, former Luton Town player, is appreciated by Tottenham.
“But I’m told he is not the only option. So there are several possibilities being considered.”
As Tottenham navigate the transfer market, fans can anticipate further developments in their pursuit of a new right-back.
Adding a player like Kabore would enhance the squad and provide competition for Pedro Porro, strengthening Spurs’ defensive setup for the upcoming season.
