Brighton Clash Likely To Clarify The Future Of Carlos Vinícius

By The Boy -

Carlos Vinícius has struggled to gain meaningful game-time at Tottenham and a cursory scan of fan comment online reveals that many supporters are confused as to why the 25-year-old doesn’t get a bigger slice of the action.

This evening Spurs will travel to Brighton minus the talismanic Harry Kane, and the argument to start the Rio de Janero born boy will be at it loudest, if not at its most authoritative.

The issue stems from Vinícius not being a Mourinho pick in the first instance – which I man given to understand from a source close to the club. For clarity, I don’t mean José is refusing to play him out of some weird spite, rather that this isn’t a player which our coaching team identified themselves, and it regrettably appears that in training the boy falls beneath the standards of the Portuguese and his staff.

Despite the sparsity of game-time, Carlos has netted 6-times, including a hat trick against Marine in the cup.

If Carlos Vinícius fails to get a start tonight, his future will look beyond bleak and more rumours about second-rate strikers to Spurs will begin again in earnest.

Idk, “future beyond bleak” seems extreme. Harry could be back in 2 weeks or less, so Jose could get by with some combination of playing Lucas Stevie Sonny Bale Lamela upfront, all of whom are more experienced than Vini, for a few games. Vini will probably play a little, maybe start, maybe not, but as Jose has said he’s still a work in progress. There’s also the cynical view that Levy wants to keep Vini’s value down to try to lower the transfer fee, so Jose may have instructions not to make Vini look too valuable.

You score them. That is his job to stick the leather into the net. You are students of game. You go Youtube Gary Lineker and Paulo Rossi see how many spectacular goals you will find on their highlight reel. Missing those goals would have been more telling then him scoring them. Bergwjin and Lucas has has more spectacular misses that maybe cost us 9 points then those unremarkable goals.

Or maybe the Jose just butchered selecting team so often. I totally believe, you find a base 11 and move one or 2 players around as rest is needed. Not these whole sale changes every game. We are in one cut final, it is high time to have set starting 11 for the league. The other players will step up for the other competitions. If not we still concentrate on the league for top 4.

Do you think running Kane into the ground is the recipe for success. The maanger has said he would play both together, it has not happen. He has not even substituted Kane lf he is not going well to give Vinicius a look. Hell when Kane is going well he saw no need to being him on for Bergwjin or Son. But now Kane is injured and it is open season on Vinicus, the foreign first year player. Wow, you guys are amazing.

“Not a Jose pick” Oh Lord here we go blaming the bulter for buying the ungredience while the chef has no clue how to prepare a consistent meal. All this training ground dog whistle. Prove it. Kane got injured and the manager went for Lamela. My goodness how can we defend that. Tanguy has been a magician at the #10 spot and he was the deep lying midfieder in the game. Tanguy went 90 prior and Winks is in better shape, why not start Winks and put Davies at left back. Let me say this a again. Winks has so much shortcomings, but right now he balances the team. There is no one on the roster to go get and hold the ball. I will support Jose until he is not longer there, but he is daen sure making it hard of me to do so.

We have problems all over the team that need sorting. Dl will not sort them in a way that makes us genuine title contenders. He will not go out and buy a top centre half a quality right back a playmaker and that missing quality striker. Even if we had the crowd back the amount we need to spend to win compared to what we get at the moment for finishing top four to what we would get if if won the league does not justify that spend. There lies the problem. We makes a massive amount from crowd revenue winning the league only adds a little bit more and does not cover the cost of buying three or four players that would take us over the line. As for vini he is part of the cheap patches we get. Is he worth a punt or will alli move to psg and levy get his way and bring back the dane.

You only had one job to do, buy a competent striker.

If he can’t get on the pitch when the player he is supposed to deputise is injured, then he won’t start tonight. Not good enough. Its time for Bale to have the lead removed from his arse and told to earn his pay. More worrying is who he picks at the back. We know, apparently, Rodon is shoe-in and one assumes that unless Dier has something hanging over Mourinho, he’ll be for the chop at last and Toby will be restored. I suppose Davies will hang onto LB but what about the other flank. Aurier has really pushed the self destruct button this time, so don’t be surprised if he starts !! Doherty, out of depth anywhere other than Wolves and Tanganga wouldn’t get in Barnets first XI. Stupid as it sounds, I’d go for Sanchez. He can run, just about kick the ball and importantly , is away from the central area. Let him stay at the back and just defend. At least if he connects with the ball, one hopes it’ll either go forward or out of play, and not near our goal. What team he picks, its not going to be pretty, thats guaranteed !!
Agree with the offside comments BTW

What the %*%” have they done to the offside rule?? Ings was never offside yesterday. That’s simply not offside, an arm stuck out? Have a word. Son at Anfield…on….Son on Thursday….off….

Diabolical and ripe for corruption.

I have to say that apart from a glimpse now and again Vinicius has failed to impress me enough to make me believe all that is required is more game time. Maybe he will if given the opportunity use it to show that he can operate at this level. Brighton away is no easy game for any side and I feel that this is more of a make or break game for Bale. We need Bale to step up now and take up the cause in earnest. I think Bale more than most has suffered by not having large crowds to play in front of. He came back expecting at some time to walk out in the new stadium to over 60000 fans roaring his name. Maybe that was the fire needed to light his blue touch paper. Or perhaps he feels he no longer has the desire or needs to push his body to the extremes of elite sport. Jose wants success and I cannot believe if Bale was delivering in training that he would not have played him more. This is a massive evening for both Bale and Vinicius. Maybe even Jose?

Why isn’t the manager bringing in the players he wants? Still? Buyrite strikes again. Doubt he will start.

Leicester v Leeds can complete the set today. Foxes dismantled Leeds away 4-1….so, you wouldn’t expect them to drop points at home this PM….let’s see….another result going Jose’s way? ….surely not.

To be fair H, ‘Sid’ (Vinicious) was very poor against Wycombe and deservedly hooked after about an hour. You have to take your chances to impress when they are given to you, it’s no good just tapping in a hat-trick against Marine. Also, as you say, if the boy has not impressed in training, then he isn’t going to get much game time.

I very much doubt that he will start tonight, but if we need a goal he might come on as a sub. Either way, with a release clause like that, he ain’t going to be signed on a permanent basis. So the old ‘journeyman striker’ carousel is likely to be taking another spin in earnest next off-season!

With our only creative midfielder strutting his stuff for Norwich not Spurs it’s a farce!!

Not only am I baffled by Vini’s exclusion but whats worse is that I am baffled by Mourinhio’s general team selection and individual subs per se.
With his confidence shot to bits the lumbering Doherty should be dropped for starters plus replacing Dier with Toby to partner Rodon. Sissoko will probably return to the team plus rotation of stale stock. With discarded Alli placed on the scrapheap instead of making an appearance this eve does the guy know what he is doing?? It’s a shambles.

If he doesn’t start tonight or does and is hooked at half time, this will tell us he’s gone. However at this late in the window it’s highly likely we will be stuck with him sucking up a place and wages. It doesn’t make sense to have left a decision like this so late in the day.
