Breaking: Bale Agent’s update shared via Sky Sports [video]

By The Boy -

Well some news is better than none, and this news is no exception, with Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett at least acknowledging that this whole Bale to Spurs sketch is at least a process in motion, opposed to some giant media hoax.

For the agent to tell the AFP news agency that an agreement is close, but not done, certainly reflects a willingness to get a deal done, if nothing else. Such is the nature of this particular situation, is that everyone knows the alternatives, which is for everything to remain as it is, or to then try and foist Bale onto another big side, which at this stage sounds like it might be an arduous task, to put it mildly.

Please let this be true, after last summer’s shenanigans I’ll believe it when the God Emperor Bale is pictured in a Spurs shirt! Front 3 of Son, Kane and Bale – not too shabby at all. Bring in this RM LB even better, get a proper striker (not Troy Deeney) and we’re shaping up to challenge for top 4 again.
Surely if you’re going to bring in a manager like Mourinho then he has to be backed – this would be backing him. Bale will tick several boxes at once, even now at the age of 31 he’s undoubtedly still got the Midas touch. Just watch him play for Wales when he’s properly fit, he’s in a different class to the rest of them.
Another big bonus will be an enormous lift to the lads following this news, they should sweep Choochoo Plovdiv off the park tomorrow night. This actually shows ambition for once and should lift the teams morale without doubt, knowing that they hopefully have a player coming that can potentially win them this trophy.

Bear Pub is a smallish intimate pub serving food which certainly would have been my local had I gone to the University!
It’s famous for ex student ties plastered on the walls!!

I will remember that as I plan to visit oxford again soonish. Bruva if that pub the “bear inn” was there in 1242 that means it was there a couple hundred years before any London pub? The interweb is telling me the oldest London pub is in holborn from the 1400s

Responding to your query re location of Eagle and Child on a previous blog.

The Eagle and Child, nicknamed The Bird and Baby, is a pub in St Giles’ Street, Oxford, England, owned by St. John’s College, Oxford and operated by Mitchells & Butlers as a Nicholson’s pub.The pub had been part of an endowment belonging to University College since the 17th century. It has associations with the Inklings writers’ group which included J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. In 2005, 25 other pubs had the same name.

The Bear Inn (or just “The Bear”) is one of the oldest pubs in Oxford, England, dating back to 1242. Its circa-17th century incarnation stands on the corner of Alfred Street and Blue Boar Street, opposite Bear Lane in the centre of Oxford, just north of Christ Church.
