“Box office” “Gold” “Class” These Fans Adore José’s Wonderfully Opportunist Reaction [video]

By The Boy -

It’s fair comment to say that a decent chunk of the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club fanbase have struggled to take José Mourinho to their hearts. It’s understandable to a certain extent.

After all, Mauricio Pochettino may not have won anything in his five and a half years at the helm, but he was immensely likeable, and sometimes an emotional investment can be difficult to shake off.

Then there is the Portuguese’s time – specifically at Chelsea – that has also been seen as problematical. After all, it haunted Andre Villas-Boas’ term in office.

So what is this moment all about?

Jeez, Spurs fans. Open your hearts!

Family Guy & American Dad are great,”, Seth McFarlane is a very clever and funny bloke.

Can’t get into Baseball or NFL, basketball is better to play than watch I suppose, best out of the three. Ice Hockey isn’t bad either.

South park is the funniest thing ever in my opinion.. Loads of music from there too i listen to all genres going back 100 years even 😆.. As for american football it looks alright, but i dont understand rules or scoring. It looks like alot of concussions are on the cards. Head damage… Basketball is the best game they produced, i played that as a kid, its tough, takes skill, and doesn’t stop like football you have to keep sprinting. Less time to stop and breathe.

We got lucky, if we keep winning then fine. The evidence so far suggests that we won’t.

Tried it against Chavski at home ans got beat 0-2 then Liverpool 0-1 etc, we were a whisker away from getting done big time yesterday too. Ok, we might eventually get better at being defensive and boring under Jose and win more than we lose.

I can hardly contain my excitement…

The club’s identity has been sold up the river, red on the home kit for the first time in our history and now defensive football. Thanks Mr Levy. 😂

Jose has towed the time just as much as Poch.

In fact Poch said things like “I’m obviously not the manager, just the coach” and “we need to be brave” when discussing transfers. Diplomatically as possible as to not create an obvious rift but he made his point.

The idea that Poch was more of a ‘yes’ man than Jose is dead in the water so far…

Tappa, I’m always happy if the team in blue and white wins. I’m also very happy that we beat Citeh and I want Champions League next season, under any manager.

As you were, I was brought up with a Spurs, win lose or draw being a footballing side. It’s in the club’s DNA. Jose’s type approach was reserved for the likes of Woolwich etc and we need our identity now more than ever.

If we win big things with Jose of course he’ll win me over because winning is the point, at the end of the day.

If we don’t do that (and with ENIC’s 17th spending I have my doubts) then I’d rather us play as a team with the ball, playing football.

I don’t hate Jose at all, but I don’t warm to the man or his style of play and never have done, and I’m not alone in that.

If he wins stuff then ok, if he doesn’t then he’s just there eroding the football culture of the club…

Nothing to do with having to play this way because of quality, it’s all to do with the way Jose sets up. This is the way it’s going to be now, the style of football. Like it or ‘lump it’, excuse the pun! 😂

I’ve seen plenty of matches under Poch where we battered the opposition but couldn’t score. I didn’t enjoy losing or drawing those games.
The nature of the different styles of play is that we’re going to create fewer but better chances by playing on the break. We will concede more attempts in goal but they will be worse chances on the whole. xG never did us any favours under Poch. I’m happy to get the better end of it now.

DannyG
DannyG

On the balance of the match we deserved to lose but I don’t really care. This was a game where we defended well in the main and took our chances. City’s cynical fouling approach caught up with them.
You could see the confidence of our players change over the course of the match – we started out scared of conceding and finished on top.
This win will do wonders for the team. We should enjoy it!

Don’t you guys feel like a weights been lifted off?
Everyone that’s stayed being in the fight together [imagine rose making his “I forgot how to play this position non-tackle” as Marhez waltzes by] or [Eriksen going through the motions making sure not to injure himself]
Imagine what score the defeat would’ve been, atleast Aurier, Lo Celso, Tanganga & all the lads give 110% for the cause, that’s what allowed us to get the win when most of us were fearful of even a draw.

Even though for most of his tenure, Poch was great, after the final even Poch was going through the motions, not looking comitted to the cause like Jose is.
Things are getting there bit by bit, be positive guys, what’s the point of being any other way.

Before Poch left [even though I was shocked like most of you]
I could not see any way in hell we could get forth, now how can we not after yesterday.

I agree with you. Excuses will be made like “well we won”, or “well it’s city” or “all of our shots were on target”. Truth is, last year we would expect to beat all teams at home, we got lucky city can’t shoot, we didn’t play well at all. I prefer to watch us play well. That said, city were very very lucky as they had a LOT of decisions to their way, every 50/50 fell to them when decisions were made. Sterling should have gone on 12th minute, he should have gone again for the dive (that no one is calling him out for) and there were a large number of fouls not given that stopped is turning play to our attack. Regardless of that though, we still struggled to pass to our own players, our set plays were poor and our organisation was a mess. We have a long way to go to get the basics right.

100% shots on target is pretty impressive.
Until we have a team that matches Man City or Liverpool this is how we have to play them to get results.

Under Poch we would’ve lost pretty easy, we showed great resolve & apart from some nerves from Sanchez & the Aurier Pen we played pretty well.
You always need a bit of luck to get a result like this, but don’t forget, Sterling was lucky to stay on the pitch before Zinchenko hot sent off.

Jose is definitely having a good effect on the team bit by bit.

With a few signings in the summer & more work on the defence I’m sure we’ll be more competitive next season.

I thought you loved it mate?… It is pretty and big and very american.. But it doesnt excite me, i would much rather we had followed liverpool by example and spent ‘some’ money maybe expanding white hart lane stands, but ‘most’ of the money on the team and backing the manager… The team and players are most important…. Look at bournmouths stadium they only have 12,000 at a push. Its naturally about 11.500. I thought they were going to build too but they are staying put now.. The weekly empty emirates and etihad stadiums are strange and a slight warning that nothing is guaranteed.

I think you’re right, but the immediate problem is Europe next season. Kane will have lots of appealing offers, Son is not at the races, some want Dele sold, Hugo needs a replacement lined up and it will be back to Levy identifying young “talent” to replace the better players. eg did we really need Fernandes right now? Do we need a complementary striker to partner Kane while we are still in the CL?

Could add Son apart from his nice strike. And the “fact” that we would have lost if Poch was still there. Remember Pep calling us the Harry Kane team. What could he have meant?

Andy
Andy

What does that mean? Eriksen could have been in the summer for a good price, an exorbitant price by Levy left a disaffected player. Rose should have been sold, one of the best left-backs in England loaned out. And his google comment was relevant to Levy’s parsimonious approach. Was Trippier deadwood? He was not replaced. The disaffected and clearly unhappy Verts is still there and will leave on a free.
Praise him as a serial winner but not for gratuitous opinions.

I’m not Moura’s biggest fan but he is improving his build up play, moving on the ball quickly and a nice assist today. Plus he has pace which always troubles defenders.

I agree, he is an x factor with quick service to the box, a slow long ball entry doesn,t suit him. He is not a top technical player like Lo C , Bergwijn etc. Mourinho has publically admitted this.

He wouldn’t have taken on the Tottenham squad before Poch developed the best watch team in the EPL. Dele needs to play off the shoulder of the key striker, ideally Kane. Mourinho himself said as much when he was appointed. Jose suggested that Dele had been previously played out of position, which is precisely what he himself is doing because we have no back up striker.

Lo Celso, Tanguy and Bergwijn are exciting technical players. Will be interesting to see if they flourish or flounder. This team’s style may well depend on it. Dele is finished if he continues with a mid-field role.

Why single Jose out for special praise then? Some are animated some aren’t, Warnock is animated for example, so what?.

Don’t get this instant love in with Jose from some Spurs fans. I respect what he’s done in his career (to not would be idiotic) but the style of football is the antithesis of what Tottenham Hotspur are about.

If we win loads of stuff then the football will be tolerated, if not then I’d rather see a different manager play better stuff.

I think Maureen could be successful with us but with the financial commitment from ENIC I just can’t see it…

East Stand
East Stand

Possibly, but Tanganga is a big strong unit, Maureen generally favours bigger athletes in most positions where the battling is done.

As he likes to lump it long, the striker needs to generally win the first ball. With Maureen that ball is generally coming in the air and generally over your shoulder.

You need strength to win that battle. Parrot doesn’t seem to have enough of that yet so he’d rather use experience instead. If Parrot was 17 but built like a brick outhouse he might be getting game time…
