Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in recent months.
A report from Football Insider claims that they are still keen on signing the 28-year-old striker and they have now received a boost in their pursuit of the England international.
Apparently, London rivals Arsenal were keen on the striker but they have now cooled their interest in the player and are looking at other alternatives.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can win the race for his signature now.
Chelsea are keeping tabs on the player as well but the Blues will miss out on Champions League qualification and they need to balance the books before they can afford a big money signing.
Tottenham could have a clear advantage in the transfer chase and they should do everything in their power to get the deal done.
Toney is certainly a proven performer in the Premier League and he could transform Spurs in the final third.
The North London outfit are yet to bring in a quality replacement for Harry Kane and they have been overly dependent on Son Heung-min and Richarlison for goals.
Signing the Brentford striker could improve them immensely. Toney is more than just a goal scorer and he will creativity and hold up play to the side as well.
The striker will want to compete at the highest level and a move to Tottenham could be an exciting opportunity for him.
It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.
