Blow for Spurs ahead of Premier League return as two players miss out Nice game with illness

By Mehdi Gokal -

Oliver Skipp and Djed Spence will miss Tottenham’s game against Nice at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to Antonio Conte.

The Tottenham team for this evening’s friendly game against Nice at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is missing Djed Spence and Oliver Skipp. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who played for Denmark at the World Cup, is back in Antonio Conte’s lineup to take on the French team.

Son Heung-min and Eric Dier, who both played in Qatar, are both included in the 26-man matchday squad but will start on the bench.

Conte will be without several first-team players for the game against Nice, including Harry Kane, Lucas Moura, Spence, and Skipp.

Conte did indicate to SPURSPLAY (via Football London)ahead of the game that Spence, Skipp, and Son were doubts for the game due to a fever at the start of the week. While Son has recovered to rejoin the squad, the other two have been ruled out.

He said:

“For us, this could be a good game, but I have to be honest, we have some problems with some players, Sonny, in the last two days, didn’t have a training session because of a fever, the same with Skippy and Spence.”

“I hope to recover Skippy for tomorrow, but today he didn’t train because he has a fever.

“It will be a good opportunity to see some young players and to give space, to give time to players who previously didn’t play a lot, like Bryan Gil, Harvey White, also Pape Sarr. It was good to have time to recover Ryan Sessegnon, he’s still not 100 per cent, but now he’s ready.”
