“Bland leading the bland” Pundit slams Pochettino To Spurs| video

By The Boy -

Great stuff from Simon Jordan, Pochettino was sacked for good reason less than 2 years ago, the Argentine’s stock was so low, his appearance in the All or Nothing series could be missed if one sneezed.

Much of the same squad that went to sleep on him are still on our books and there is now even less money available for transfers. The post-Coronavirus economy looks overcast.

Some fans are already yelping with delight – because that is the closest anyone will get to a cogent argument in support of this bizarre notion.

Does anyone think Poch will positively influence Kane? Dear oh dear.

Poch returning might not be enough alone, however if Kane rates Poch as coach and Levy does other things like backing him properly Kane might feel he can win something with us. Regardless of what you might think…

This is Levy and his unfathomable logic of how to run a football club, he is a desperate man.

Irrespective of the decision to fire and then rehire Pochettino which is bizarre is anyone disputing the decision to terminate Mourinho? The timing might have been strange being mid season but surely had it not come then it would have happened at the seasons end?
On an eye watering salary, and unable to spend the huge sums of the money bestowed upon him by previous employers he was left to rely on his self confessed coaching skills which seemed to have aptly described in other titles as everyone behind the ball and hoof it up to Kane and Son.
He turned one of the fittest teams into probably the unfittest hence the raft of substitutions we made on the hour followed by the inevitable late goal(s) we would invariably concede.
Poch was widely derided for his failures in the Champions League while Jose have failed to qualify for it managed to fail in the Europa League losing 3-0 to a manager less pub team in Croatia.
Such was his impact or lack of it a caretaker manager or shill as he was described on here bettered his points per game average over the last six games of the season
Rehiring Poch is a very strange decision but not as strange as appointing the serial arsonist that is Mourinho

Why does this feel like a smokescreen for press pets Man Utd’s horror show last night?

And/or as some above have suggested, an attempt to boost ST renewals.

The club are chasing me to renew with all the gusto of a dodgy bailiff with the scent of an unpaid parking ticket in his nostrils.

Levy burnt Poch out, and levy didn’t want to go no further.
No manager put up with Levys crap for as long.
Poch would be made to go back but I guess it’s like some abusive relationships people want to go back.

He had CL for 4 years under this manager incl a final.
Logic would suggest that Poch would be in a relatively strong bargaining position were Levy genuinely interested.
I don’t think Poch coming back is a good idea btw.

I like a few of your points but I think you forget that LEVY does not throw out the deadwood reference Dele Rose Winks and the protracted Eriksen saga. Poch got Mitchell to the club but Levy knew better.
If Poch oversaw the buying of deadwood that means JM oversaw the buying of Rodon Vinicius Bale Doherty?

Again why if you want to win trophies would kane stay. Kane can walk into the Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester teams not to mention Leicester if he really wanted so please answer why would poch return make him want to stay.

You are quite correct. I said I wouldn’t but I find myself tempted. I know I’m a fool,an old one at that, but a combination of nostalgia and cognitive dissonance may just tempt me back. It’s almost an abusive relationship with Enic. I know they won’t change but my love for what was thfc pulls me back in.

Maybe it’s the influence of Kane who knows, but it could also be that Levy won’t be spending and Poch has agreed to work with the current squad just to get back here.

If Kane has made the return of Poch as part of some kind of plan for him to stay (purely conjecture at this stage). Then we will have no choice but to understand it…

Look at a time poch did a hell of a job with some very good players and some crap players. He had walker rose Jan and Toby. He had eriksen son moura kane and Hugo. All were a lot younger but he also like all spurs managers had crap. This squad now has way way way too much crap in it needs a real sorting out. Poch is not the man this time around needs a man to stand up to levy and the board if spurs are ever to be a top team again in the next 5-6 years that includes winning something.

The difference with poch is levy knows he will do what levy wants and not question it. He will do his best try and get the best out of a bad squad and not rock the boat but that don’t win you trophies. This squad needs a manager who will walk in and throw out the dead wood poch won’t do that. Some of the dead wood poch oversaw the buying in his time. Remember under poch alli started to get lazy and poch was not playing him. He had a love affair with dier and sissoko and winks all pure utter rubbish players who need the dead wood treatment which I doubt poch would do.

Well to start I don’t have to listen to talksh1te and it’s personal slant on football matters to form an opinion.
Let me recap on what appears to be going on here, Levy fires Poch because he felt he had taken the club as far as he could with his philosophy / mentality, and felt things needed a different approach.
In his great wisdom he hires Mourinho, the man who achieves trophy success wherever he has been to complete the journey to winning silverware.
Mourinho spends the next seventeen months comprehensively changing the mentality, attitudes, playing style and staff informing them that they are losers, however his ways of persuasion into winners didn’t seem to have the desired effect.
Mourinho is then sacked in bizarre fashion, leaving Levy under extreme pressure to find a successor that has to prove successful, and after what appears to be a fruitless search for the right man, he has somehow come to the conclusion that Poch is the way forward.
This smacks of a desperate man in a desperate situation in Levy, making desperate decisions that simply do not make sense, and what does this say about Poch, the whole situation is beyond comprehension, well mine anyway.

I fail to understand how poch coming back will placate kane????? I just don’t understand if you want to win medals win trophies how will poch coming back do that. Kane does not want the carling Cup or whatever its called now he wants and deserves the league the champions league season after season and at 28 this year this is it. Kane knows spurs are no longer the option if he wants to win these no matter who takes over thats why I see him going to Manchester or if the deal was right possibly Chelsea.

Whatever happens with whatever manager, it’s down to Levy to change our fortunes and nobody else. In that case there’s a logic to Poch returning, is he any worse than anyone else who’d agree to work at Spurs under him?

Who knows, personally I feel Kane thought Poch needed time to rebuild so they could go again after the defeat in the final. I mean he spent much of the day after Poch was sacked at Poch’s house talking about it, what do you think?

I know Jose brought out a bit more in Kane last season in terms of numbers, but it was Poch that oversaw his development into the goal machine he is today.

Yes, I feel this could well be a move to placate Kane, and others like Hugo etc. I just don’t see a huge amount of candidates that could go into Spurs and get anywhere very quickly. the better managers are all in work. Perhaps with the lack of options, Poch is one of the better options out there?

Same squad but in an even worse place. Spurs have probably lost £150 million due to Covid and have to repay HMS Treasury £175 million next March, so Harry is going to stay because Poch returns to this mess.

Why when he wants to win things would he stay if poch came back. Poch failed to convince levy to back him the first time, I remember him saying many times how happy he was with the squad. Its the same dam squad more or less from when poch left. Kane is gone he is 28 this year he wants to win trophies something spurs don’t do.

Some talking of Zidane to PSG, Poch back to Spurs and Conte to Madrid. Total circus, I think every top manager in work will have worked for exactly the same clubs as each other by the end of their careers.

It’s just showbiz for these owners…

Jordan is being dismissive of the time Tuchel had at PSG compared to Poch, they have yet to make a signing during his tenure.

Poch’s failure to get things ‘over the line’ at Spurs was as much to do with Levy’s lack of a decent sized wage bill or net transfer spend, add zero signings in over year. PSG have defensive issues and have signed nobody to assist Poch in fixing that yet, but they beat reigning champions Bayern and Barca in the Champions League and also won the French Cup, all this in six months.

So it’s ok people like Simon Jordan saying this stuff (and on many things I respect his opinion btw) but pundits are experts at making sweeping, clickbait statements that rarely stand up to scrutiny when one drills down into the facts surrounding whatever it is they’re talking about…

The BBC have now just broken the news we’re speaking to Poch about a return. Weird old times. ZZ probably off to PSG then. I’m not sure what I think about this anymore. Why anybody would want to work for Levy once let alone twice baffles me.

I remember Poch having to bring Harry Kane on to rescue a Cup tie against Newport County. I’m sure Harry fancies more of that.
