‘Biggest suitor’ Tottenham have now ‘decided’ to pay the asking price for 24-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.

A report from Turkish outlet Aksam claims that Tottenham are the ‘biggest suitor’ for the 24-year-old defender, and they recently failed with a €22 million offer to sign the player.

The Turkish outfit are holding out for a fee of around €25 million and after consideration, the Spurs management have ‘decided’ to pay the reported asking price.

Nelsson is now expected to join the North London club in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Galatasaray and he could be a useful option for Tottenham as well.

The North London outfit need to strengthen defensively in order to get back into the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

They have been linked with players like Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven as well.

Spurs were quite vulnerable defensively last season and they ended up conceding in excess of 60 goals in the league. They will have to improve in the department and someone like Nelsson will certainly help them tighten up defensively.

The opportunity to play for a Premier League club will be an exciting new step in the 24-year-old’s career and he is likely to be tempted to join them.

There is no mention of when the transfer will go through, but it is fair to assume that the deal could be done soon if Tottenham have indeed agreed to pay the reported asking price.

Agreeing on personal terms with the player should not be a problem. Tottenham have the resources to pay him substantial money and the player will be keen on a move to the Premier League.
