Jermaine Jenas has bizarrely blamed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane for going missing in big games.
The remarks from the former Tottenham man come after Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on the weekend. Despite scoring a penalty, Kane struggled to really test the Arsenal defence.
This prompted the BBC Sport and BT Sport pundit to claim that Kane does not perform well for Tottenham in big games and finals.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s Youtube channel, he said:
“I need to see more from him. My biggest issue with Harry Kane – and he is going to be a God at Spurs whenever he decides to retire and he will go down as one of the greatest players in Premier League history – finals and big games, I think, are a problem when it comes to what he has done in those moments.”
The comments in my opinion are quite surprising considering he’s been one of Spurs’ most consistent players over the years. And perhaps him disappearing against big teams has got more to do with the entire team’s performance than him alone.
Levy needs to roll himself into a joint and smoke himself ..
Bren is spot on. Kane has been a great player for the club, but we should have taken the big money for him when it was on the table and used it to buy 2 younger strikers that could be the future for us. Problem is that we all know that the money would have been squandered by Levy on wasters like ndombele, lo celso etc.
Yes it’s all true. Remember with the WC just over a Month away Harry won’t be busting a gut on the Club Front, it’s instinctive.
It took Jenas this long to notice?
I don’t think it’s unfair to say that since 2017, he’s not turned up in 2 finals (18 CL, 21 Carabao) and 4 semi finals (17 FA, 18 FA, 19 Carabao, 22 Carabao).
He’s been missing in a host of other key domestic and European games in that time too, as well as England’s Euro 2020 final.
But hey, as long as he keeps breaking meaningless ‘premier league’ records like most goals for a single club, most away goals, most NLD goals, etc…
