“Big worry” for Tottenham as expert shares update on star player’s injury

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s Brazilian striker, Richarlison, has had a season to forget after his big-money move from Everton. The 25-year-old arrived at Spurs for a club-record fee of £60m but has only managed to score twice in the entire season, both goals coming against Marseille in the Champions League group stage.

Injuries have also been a constant issue for Richarlison this season, having missed 11 games due to various injuries. In the recent match against Southampton, he suffered yet another injury and had to be substituted early on in the game.

According to injury expert Ben Dinnery, Richarlison is struggling with “some ongoing issues,” which is becoming a concern for Spurs. It is a muscle injury, and the worry is that it is related to a previous hamstring problem he picked up in Qatar.

He told GiveMeSport:

“It’s a muscle injury. The big worry here is Richarlison is coming off the back of a recent hamstring problem that he picked up in Qatar. It’s a series of ongoing issues that continue to hamper the Brazilian just when he seems to be getting a foot in that first team.

“He is a player that tends to recover fairly quickly and he will go out there and put his body on the line. An MRI scan will be used to determine the extent of that problem.”

The extent of Richarlison’s latest injury is still unclear, and he is set to miss Brazil’s game against Morocco. However, he is a player who tends to recover quickly and is known for putting his body on the line.

Despite his poor form and injury struggles, the club has no plans to sell him in the summer, having paid such a huge fee for him.

Tottenham will hope that he will rediscover his form from his time at Everton and with the Brazilian national team, and perhaps a change of manager and playing style next season may help him perform at his best.

With the season coming approaching its final stages, Spurs will not be able to afford any slip ups in performances with Newcastle, Liverpool and Brighton breathing down their neck for the 4th spot.
