According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham have already made an enquiry for Memphis Depay earlier this summer but the Barcelona man will need convincing.
Spurs have been linked with a move for the Netherlands international all summer, however, Jacobs believes he’s not interested in a Premier League return.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Tottenham have enquired already this window and been told he isn’t too keen on a move back to the Premier League.”
There could be a couple of reasons for his reluctance over a move to Spurs. Firstly, the former Manchester United man spent 18 months at Old Trafford scoring only 7 times in 53 appearances before leaving in 2017 and was considered a flop. It’s possible that due to his unsuccessful stint with United, a Premier League return doesn’t appeal to him. However, at the same time, this will be a great opportunity for him to prove his doubters wrong.
Another possible reason could be Spurs’ already star-studded attack which includes the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura, and their mega summer signing Richarlison. Tottenham will not be able to promise him regular minutes despite his quality. He’d be an excellent signing for Spurs for their squad but from Depay’s perspective, you could see why Spurs might not be his preferred destination.
Oh for the luv of god!
Barca want the dough his agent wants the dough more sunny league than EPL , as proven, not for me.
If he could not make it at MU and Barcelona what makes journalists think that he will make it at Spurs. Obviously they have run out of (click bait) players and now resorting to anything will do articles.
He’d be even less happy on the bench than Bergwijn…nonsense rumour
Surprise surprise, the media pushing this story now have an exit strategy; ‘he isn’t keen’. This story has been utter nonsense from the start… Six forwards? 😂
Hopefully just the mainstream making it up again… Manure take our flops these days. We don’t want theirs…. Depay has banged a few in ligue 1 and La liga last year, but he’s already struggled in our league… He is a left winger and would be back up/competition for Son so it would make sense.. At 28 years old though he’s in his prime and won’t want to play second fiddle.
