“Been in talks with” – Romano claims “one of the best managers” is “waiting for Tottenham”

By Mehdi Gokal -

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Luis Enrique, the former manager of Barcelona, is still optimistic about securing the vacant managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur and is patiently waiting for the opportunity to arise.

Speculation linking Enrique to the club intensified last month when Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s former director, reportedly expressed a keen interest in bringing him on board.

Enrique has made no secret of his desire to manage in the Premier League, and it appears that he has turned down other job offers in the hope of receiving a call from Tottenham.

During an episode of the Here We Go Podcast, Romano discussed Tottenham’s ongoing search for a new manager and highlighted Luis Enrique as a candidate to watch closely.

Romano said:

“I would keep an eye on Luis Enrique until the end. He has been in talks with Napoli, but he informed them that he is attracted to a Premier League option. So, it seems that Luis Enrique is now waiting for Tottenham.”

With a successful track record, including nine major trophies with Barcelona, including the prestigious Champions League, Enrique is highly regarded within the football community. Pep Guardiola himself has hailed him as “one of the best managers.”

While Enrique continues to wait for the Tottenham job, it has been a considerable amount of time since the position became vacant. Tottenham’s current struggle to attract a top-tier manager is compounded by the club’s unstable condition, further complicating their search for a new leader.

Nevertheless, if Spurs were to make a move for him, there is little doubt that Enrique would eagerly embrace the opportunity.

Meanwhile, multiple reports suggests that Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is the next manager favourite for the job with The Independent claiming that Spurs will make a formal approach for him in the coming week after the Scottish League Cup.
