Barcelona ace happy to join Tottenham but money is reportedly an issue

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham can sign Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic in this transfer window, but money will play an important role.

The Croatian has been told by new Barcelona boss, Ronald Koeman that he can leave the Nou Camp this summer.

The Catalans want to get rid of some of their old but ineffective players as the Dutchman attempts to revolutionise the club.

The likes of Luis Suarez have also been told that they can leave and Rakitic is the player that Spurs want from the firesale.

Mundo Deportivo as cited by SportWitness claims that the Lilywhites will like to add him to their team and the midfielder is also open to a move to north London, but money might pose a problem.

The report adds that Spurs are battling with Sevilla for his signature, however, both teams are struggling to meet Barcelona’s £10 million asking price.

It also claims that the Lilywhites are unwilling to give him the salary that he was on at Barcelona.

Although the midfielder will be happy to leave the Catalans, he isn’t willing to take a pay cut in his final year and will prefer to see out the contract.

If he joins, Rakitic will bring valuable experience to the Spurs’ midfield.

Yep, why would he come and play in the Ropey with us on less money at this stage of his career? Levy’s gotta step it up, the fee wont be much with a year left. We’ll see, he might be enticed with the world class training facilities over money! 😂

When the only incentive is money it’s a futile exercise.

Comes down to money again, so not happening either he sees out the final year or it’s off to Italy to a bigger pay day.
