Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
Eventually, Spurs failed to secure an agreement with the Belgian outfit and Brentford managed to agree on a fee with Club Brugge. However, the move collapsed after the Premier League side discovered an issue with a cartilage in the player’s knee.
Now Voetbalkrant are reporting that Nusa has rejected the move to Brentford because of the medical issue. There were rumours that the Bees could return and complete the move in the summer but the player has now snubbed the opportunity to join them.
The report states that Tottenham are now an ‘alternative’ option for the player along with Chelsea and Newcastle United. Both clubs remain keen on the player and a ‘bidding war’ could ensue in the summer.
The 18-year-old winger is highly-rated across Europe and he has the tools to develop into a top-class attacker. Ange Postecoglou could get the best out of him and help him fulfil his potential. Spurs’ attacking approach would be ideal for him and he could settle into their system with ease.
In addition to that, Tottenham are on the up right now. They have an exciting squad, an ambitious project and a charismatic manager in charge. They are well-placed to secure Champions League qualification as well.
On the other hand, Chelsea and Newcastle have had mediocre campaigns and they are in the middle of a rebuild. Nusa would be better off joining a more stable project in the summer.
