Ate My Own Words Today – Again

By The Boy -

Eating your own words is recurring dish on the menu when you publish a blog that actually thrusts home an opinion – I simply couldn’t exist upon a diet of rehashed guano washed down with afresh pint of bin juice.

Chatting to a Spurs fan earlier, who reminded me we were playing Juve in some Asian Fan Engagement cobblers.

My stock response was, ‘well, we won’t learn anything. You don’t learn anything from friendlies.’ Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.

Tanguy NDombele’s cameo made my day.

Mauricio Pochettino’s modest post match quotes were beautifully understated.

“He has the capacity to add to the team different things and I hope during the season he can help the team achieve all that they want.”

Evening Standard

NEWSFLASH for Levyologists. This is what you get when you spend properly, you back the damn manager.

No fingers crossed. No mumbling about building.

Just look at this guy. Take a look. If you please.

Oh yes, and …more please.

Links are GOOD.

Links to losers like HITC etc are far less good.

To tell the truth, I don’t usually watch preseason friendlies, but I made an exception today and was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the game. Our intensity, in the first half in particular, was right up there at the level Poch demands and our high press was giving them a lot of problems and causing them difficulty in retaining possession. Although, to be fair, they retained the ball much better in the second half.

Aside from the sensational Kane winner, giving that wanker Szczesny a classic David Seaman moment, Sonny and Lucas especially looked sharp, Ndombele had a great cameo and Parrott and Skipp both look like very promising young players. The overall impression of the youngsters however, was not so much individual performances, but one of every academy player used, looking entirely comfortable in Poch’s system. Something you only get with continuity of management, coaching structure and philosophy.

Tanguy always looking to play the ball forward, can pass , dribble, score, not afraid to receive the ball under pressure, very quick feet, beautiful tricks to wrong foot tacklers, watch out for the left to right foot ricochet. plenty to like. Very dominant right foot.

Agreed H he looks quality but on a par with Dembele when fit. So ur depth hasn’t relly improved. We need better wing-backs. (I mean compared to Davies and Aurier) Keep Rose and add a pacy RB and add another midfield creative alongside Eriksen

I surprised myself by watching the game. A few of personal observations, Kane looks like he has lost a stone apart from his incredible goal. Lamela looked fit and ready for a new season. KWP looks good going forward but weak defensively, Skipp was very impressive and Parrot promising. Alli should learn how to kick a football with his left foot and was his normal waste of space. N’dombele gave a good cameo and Moura was red hot, I think he will be great next season.
