Aston Villa ‘very interested’ in Tottenham star who ‘was outstanding’ in the last pre-season game

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The 27-year-old Argentine playmaker was on loan at Spanish club Villarreal last year and he does not have a future at the North London club.

Although he has returned to his parent club for the pre-season, he is expected to leave Tottenham permanently this summer.

He has been linked with clubs like Real Betis, Napoli and Aston Villa. As per Estadio Deportivo, the former Villarreal manager Unai Emery is keen on signing the Argentine midfielder and Aston Villa are ‘very interested’ in securing his services before the window closes.

It will be interesting to see if the West Midlands club come forward with a concrete proposal to sign him. He has previously played under Emery at Villarreal and the opportunity to reunite with the Spanish manager could be exciting for him.

The 27-year-old will look to get his career back on track with regular football and Emery might be able to provide him with those opportunities at Aston Villa.

He is versatile enough to play in a number of attacking roles and he will add goals and creativity in the final third.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old was outstanding in the last pre-season game against West Ham United. Clive Allen labelled him as a bright spark for Tottenham against the Hammers and there is no doubt that he has the quality to make an impact for Aston Villa next season.

“I thought Lo Celso was a real bright spark. I know he scored the goal but right from the start of the second half he was outstanding,” he told Tottenham’s broadcast.

Meanwhile, Tottenham should look to raise funds by selling their deadwood so that they can strengthen their squad this summer. It will be interesting to see if they can recoup a substantial amount of money for the Argentine midfielder.
