Di Marzio says Conte wants to stay at Tottenham but on one condition

By Mehdi Gokal -

Antonio Conte wants to stay at Tottenham and win trophies, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

On Sunday, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reported that Conte is willing to begin talks with the North London club about a new contract. And, according to the latest Football Insider report, Spurs are ‘working’ on a £400,000-a-week deal for the Italian manager, with the hope of finalising his contract during the World Cup break.

And while reports from Italy continue to link the Spurs manager with a move to Juventus, the Italian himself has remained tight-lipped about his future claiming it to be ‘not important‘.

According to Italian journalist Di Marzio, while Conte wants to stay at Tottenham, he may leave if the Premier League club does not match his ambition.

When asked about the former Chelsea manager’s future at Spurs, he told Wettfreunde:

“Antonio Conte definitely wants to stay at Tottenham and he’s a successful manager so he wants to win.

“But if Tottenham and Conte aren’t on the same page when it comes to winning trophies, he could go to a big club in Italy.

“Juventus could be a possibility if they want to change coaches at the end of the season. Paris St Germain could also be a possibility, but any top club in the world could be if we talk about Antonio Conte.”

Conte is a serial winner and has won trophies where ever he has gone. He will not commit to a club if they do not share his ambition. Whether Levy can assure him of that, time will tell but so far the Spurs management seems to be happy with the Italian.
