“Are we missing something?” Pundit suspects there might be more to the Bale situation

Michael Brown thinks that there is more to Gareth Bale not playing on a regular basis for Tottenham than we may think.

After scoring the opener in their game against Stoke City, Bale was later subbed off because of a calf problem.

He also missed the next game against Wolves, and this is not the first time that he has struggled with fitness issues since he joined the club on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.

While Spurs have always given detail about the problems he is having, and why he wouldn’t play a certain game, Brown thinks that Bale’s problem at Spurs might not be just about his fitness.

He says that the attacker is one of the fittest players around and so always keeping him out of action because of some fitness issue or another looks suspicious.

“Are we missing something? Is there more of an ongoing issue with Gareth that we don’t know about?” he put to Football Insider.

“If you listen to Jose, he said [after Stoke match] that when Bale was walking off the pitch, he said he couldn’t carry on anymore.

“For me, that’s not Bale. Bale is one of the fittest, he’s one of the most high-intensity runners, he can cover the ground. He’s an amazing athlete.

“It’s a shame because when he gets that opening goal, you’re thinking that this could be the game for him to go on and get a couple.”

Bale joined Spurs with the hope of earning a permanent deal with them at the end of this season.

He will hope to get back into the team after his current injury and to play well enough to earn another season in North London.

Hopefully it will come good but it doesnt look that way and is JoMo making a statement that he only plays those he wants although he went along with resigning Bale obvs.
Probably thinking he could get in a couple of decent players for his (Spurs) wages.
HTF did RM put him on 600k

I seem to remember early in the season that some players at Spurs had Covid but the club decided not to mention any names (?); maybe that’s a false memory. But if not, perhaps Baler had a dose and it’s had an effect on his usual high level of fitness & recovery. Just thinking aloud.

It does seem odd that after a decent first half against Stoke he’s disappeared again, if he’s genuinely injured then say so. Not sure where we are with some players and the relationship with the manager.
