“Appreciated by the board” – Journalist claims European club are after Tottenham ace who is “open” to leaving

Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is being eyed by a number of clubs including Ligue 1’s Marseille.

That’s according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna who claims that the youngster is really appreciated by the French club and is one of the names on their transfer list ahead of the summer transfer window. He also claims other Premier League clubs are interested in a move for him as well.

As per Aouna, Sarr is eager to secure more regular playing time and is open to the possibility of leaving Tottenham in order to achieve that.

The Senegalese midfielder joined Spurs in 2021 for a fee of €20m but was immediately loaned back to Metz for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

While he struggled to secure regular starts under former manager Antonio Conte, Sarr capitalised on a string of injuries to Tottenham’s midfielders in the latter half of the season making 14 appearances for the club, impressing with his performances.

The 20-year-old midfielder possesses great versatility and can excel in various positions on the field. Known for his aerial prowess, passing ability, and powerful long shots, Sarr is still considered a young talent with immense potential.

Allowing Sarr to depart permanently would not be a wise decision for Tottenham, especially considering his potential. However, the final outcome may depend on the identity of the club’s next manager and their preferences. If Spurs appoint a manager known for developing and nurturing young players, Sarr could flourish and become a vital asset for the team’s future success.
