Dejan Kulusevski becomes the second player to speak about the famous Conte press-conference after Hojbjeg and he too has backed his manager.
The Swede was one of Conte’s first signings at Spurs who arrived in January on loan from Juventus last year. He made an immediate impact for Tottenham, scoring 5 and assisting 8 in only 18 league games, helping the club beat Arsenal to a top 4 finish, securing the final Champions League spot.
However, this season he has been hampered by injuries and has struggled to replicate his form from last season. He only has 2 goals and 7 assists in 27 games in all competition for the club this campaign.
Despite this, Tottenham are reportedly keen to sign him permanently, even if the conditions for the obligation to buy clause are not met.
But with Conte’s future now in doubt as he looks set to leave the club at the end of the season if not sacked before, Kulusevski’s future at the club could also potentially become a question mark.
However, the 22-year-old has claimed that the managerial situation at the club will not affect the club’s option to buy him at the end of the season.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, he admitted that he does not what will happen to Conte after his press conference and also stated that it has been an honor to play under Conte. He said:
“We have to see what happens first. Right now he is still there and we all have to take that into account. I don’t know what it will be, but as in life things change. Then you have to be ready for change and life will still go on.”
“He is a very good coach and has taught me a lot. It has been an honor with everything I have learned from him. He will be an important figure in my career.”
When asked if Conte leaving will affect his future at the club, he said: “No no. Absolutely not.”
And when asked if he would like to stay at Tottenham in the future, he replied: “Absolutely, that’s right.”
