Tottenham may have received some positive news on the injury front as manager Ange Postecoglou shared an optimistic update regarding the fitness of key defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
The North London club has been battling a string of injuries, which was evident during their recent 1-1 draw with Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs were missing several key players, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, striker Dominic Solanke, and their primary centre-back duo of Romero and Van de Ven.

Postecoglou confirmed that while neither defender has resumed full training, both are making steady progress under the guidance of the club’s sports science staff.
The Australian conveyed hope that their return is approaching, a development that would significantly bolster Spurs’ defensive line. Via Football London, Postecoglou said:
“Potentially mate. He [Romero] still hasn’t trained with the team, so he’s getting closer but he still hasn’t trained with the team. So, him and Micky are still working with sport science staff. So, hopefully, not too far away.”
Inconsistent Tottenham draw against Fulham
In the Fulham match, Tottenham leaned on Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies to fill the gaps at centre-back. Although the makeshift pairing performed admirably, they could not replicate the synergy and reliability of Romero and Van de Ven, whose partnership has been instrumental.
The draw itself was a frustrating result for Spurs. A goalless first half saw both teams hit the woodwork, but the Lilywhites broke the deadlock in the 54th minute with Brennan Johnson’s finish, set up by Timo Werner.
However, Fulham equalised through Tom Cairney’s curling strike before the midfielder was sent off for a rash challenge on Dejan Kulusevski. Despite the numerical advantage, Tottenham failed to capitalise, leaving them to settle for a point.
Now sitting seventh in the Premier League, three points behind the top four, Spurs face a crucial period ahead.
The timely return of Romero and Van de Ven could play a decisive role in solidifying the defence and reigniting Tottenham’s bid for a Champions League spot. Their presence will be key as the team seeks greater consistency in the coming weeks.
