Tottenham head into their upcoming league match against Ipswich Town with a mix of anticipation and concern as injuries continue to affect their squad.
Following a challenging 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in their midweek Europa League fixture, Spurs are eager to bounce back.
Manager Ange Postecoglou provided important updates on the team’s fitness situation ahead of Sunday’s clash.
One of the most encouraging pieces of news was regarding Cristian Romero.
The Argentine centre-back, a pivotal figure in Tottenham’s defence, may be in contention to play.
Postecoglou mentioned that Romero’s status would be monitored over the next couple of days, offering hope that he could make an appearance.
On the flip side, not all the updates were positive. Promising youngster Mikey Moore has been ruled out, with Postecoglou confirming that he will not be available for the Ipswich encounter. Additionally, Timo Werner’s absence adds to Tottenham’s attacking concerns.
Postecoglou also addressed the ongoing frustration surrounding Richarlison’s recurring injuries.
Despite efforts to manage the Brazilian forward’s workload and prevent overexertion, he has experienced yet another setback.
The Australian coach conveyed his disappointment, noting the proactive measures taken to maintain Richarlison’s fitness, only for him to face another period of recovery.
Further updates were given on Micky van de Ven’s condition.
Although the Dutch defender won’t be ready for the Ipswich match, Postecoglou expressed optimism that van de Ven could return soon after the international break, contingent on his recovery progress.

Speaking ahead of the Ipswich game, Postecoglou said (via Football London):
“Everyone came through unscathed so no issues there.”
“Cristian we’ll see how he goes in the next couple of days. He has a chance for the weekend.”
“Mikey, not right for the weekend. Timo too.”
“He [Richarlsion] trimmed down. We were doing everything right, trying not to overload him but unfortunately he broke down again. He’s disappointed.”
“Yeah, it will be after the international break. When after, it will be dictate his [Micky van de Ven] progress during that time.”
Currently positioned 7th in the league and only two points behind 4th-placed Chelsea, Tottenham are keen to claim a win against Ipswich.
Such a result would be crucial not only for boosting morale but also for propelling Spurs closer to their top-four ambitions.
With a potential return for Romero and Postecoglou’s careful squad management, Spurs aim to demonstrate resilience and maintain momentum in their campaign.
