‘Already in January’ midfielder described as a ‘roaring success’ linked with Spurs move

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher was linked with a move away from the London club during the summer transfer window. However, the 23-year-old ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher has a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2025 and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for him earlier this summer.

Journalist Rudy Galetti has now revealed to Tribal Football that Tottenham could make a concrete move for the Chelsea midfielder if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is sold.

“Different story for Gallagher: his contract expires in June 2025 and there wouldn’t be a rush on Chelsea’s side to talk about a possible contract renewal. However, the Blues want to start discussions anyway, having already had to resist pressure from other clubs this summer. Conor – as is well known – attracted the attention of many Premier League teams and continues to do so. For this reason, let’s keep an eye on Tottenham, already in January: Spurs could make a concrete move following the possible farewell of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.”

The 28-year-old Denmark international has been linked with an exit during the summer transfer window and clubs like Juventus and Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on him. He has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and he needs to leave Tottenham in order to play regularly.

The Denmark international has been a useful player for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton and he will look to pursue a different challenge at this stage of his career.

Gallagher could prove to be an interesting acquisition for Tottenham. The 23-year-old hard-working midfielder will add defensive cover, drive and pressing ability to the Tottenham midfield. Spurs could certainly use more energy in the middle middle of the park and Gallagher would get to play regularly at the North London club as well.

He needs to play every week in order to continue his development and Spurs might be able to provide him with more first-team action compared to Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to sanction his departure to their London rivals midway through the season.

Gallagher has previously shown his quality during a loan spell at Crystal Palace, which was described as a roaring success.
