All Fur Coat And No Knickers: Troy Deeney could swerve Spurs for West Brom

By The Boy -

Sky Sports put this out yesterday and the guys on the news desk must still be laughing at our expense. The story goes as per the headline below. The like of which I’d really like never to see again.

The pain caused by seeing this once magical club dragged through the gutter in such a manner is difficult to take. Milik is a Ferrari compared to Deeney, the Datsun Sunbeam.

£32.5m for Polish international Arkadiusz is almost certainly beyond Tottenham’s budget. Daniel Levy apparently just made a truly horrible offer to Italian side Torino, whereby he actually offered to loan their captain and top goalscorer. What luck that Steve Hitchen rang – not.

Elsewhere, The Sun is reporting that West Brom are close to signing Watford’s finest. I am also given to understand from a Baggies’ fan that Troy lives an easy enough commute from The Hawthorns.

Spurs are Deloitte’s dream boys, yet on the grass, could we be any less authentic?

Anytime you’re ready to challenge me just come. I’ll be challenging you. The difference between me and you is if you do challenge me and I think your right I’ll say something like “I never thought of it like that” you’ll just come out with some smart @7sed crap without even thinking about what’s been said coz you don’t want to be wrong. You’ll learn nothing like that and will remain an idiot.

Lorentte was brought in to train with Kane to show him some of the Spanish technical stuff. Plus a few games here and there. Was a great move.

Besides, what the f**k does that have to do with a football discussion forum? You’re arrogant enough about it but it means not very much here, whatever you think.

I like the new place, it just doesn’t own my soul. It’s part of the club but is not the club, we had no home ground and finished higher than ever in the modern era.

I’m proud of it, it’s a great stadium but I’m not gonna lose sight of the club’s identity because some people cite that as cure for everything that’s not right. Cos it ain’t, and never will be. Just ask the Gooners, no don’t. Don’t speak to the c**nts… 😂

What’s there to see in the ENIC situation that’s so difficult to understand? They don’t spend any of their own money and are fatting us up for market. I know for a fact I can tell you much more things about life than you can tell me. (From both sides of the coin. “WE’re used to it now” you can bring as many as you like, I aint running

Whatever Tapps, we are both persistent and i’ll give us both that.

You don’t know me and I not you, but making assumptions and juvenile slurs about the person you disagree with is only an attempt to avoid arguing on the basis of facts. You can’t in the ENIC situation so you just try and assassinate the character of someone you don’t know. It’s very poor form but I think we’re used to it now old chap..

I totally agree. Not entirely sure how Deeney would win us a trophy, but if it were to happen, great. Levy gave ‘Arry players to get out of trouble, but experience, older pros (Saha and Nelson) were given to him to solidify top 4 later on too. Not entirely a roaring success. We were crying out for quality then, but signed them two. At the top of the league, a different type of player is required, not spent force’s. But then came Llorente. He is being viewed as a great back up in some circles for us, but the man scored 2 league goals. He was past his best and although he scored with his hip v City he didn’t really do much for us. Nothing wrong with experience if the player has quality. Deeney is 32. He might well be slightly better than Llorente, but he’s not a player I would get excited by. Won’t stop Levy buying him though, but we should have had a striker signed already, not waiting for a discount in October.

That’s because these other clubs buy well in the first place. They are proactive in the transfer market and that activity presents opportunities like that.

No signings for a whole year doesn’t really cut it does it…

Ever heard of the term ‘ speculative to accumulate’? it’s what traders to in the City to amass huge wealth. Levy isn’t a trader, he’s a property investor and so are ENIC.

These other clubs, also ones not as wealthy as us are going out there and being proactive. Levy is playing it safe and chopping most of the the revenues into bricks and mortar.

That’s no good for a successful football club and never will be. The one League Cup in over 20 years proves that…

After the last 20 odd years of ENIC and you’re using Covid 19 as the excuse? Dear oh dear…

Chelsea, Utd, Everton are all improving their squads with top quality so Covid quite clearly comes as a handy excuse. Just as it does to all these companies that are sacking people that they wanted to sack anyway, left right and center.

Potential earnings are forecast several years down the line, Covid will soon stop interfering with everything and a vaccine will arrive within the next 6 months or so. It’s like a storm that will pass, everyone knows that. So does Levy, he’s just up to his expectation management bullsh*t as usual…

The brand is already being damaged day by day the more we slip away from the Champions League. So who’s gonna offer the levels of sponsorship Baldy wants with us in the Ropey League?

If the top four shakes down the way most predict; Liverpool, Citeh, Manure and Chavski then that’s two years out of the world’s elite club competition. This situation is not going to improve unless Jose gets us back up there. He’s clearly not being backed with anything serious so it could well be a struggle for him.

Levy wants his cake and to eat it, it’s the way he thinks. He should have thrashed out a deal with someone when we’d got to the C.L final.

He thought the whole thing would keep rolling even without backing the manager. So he decided to change the manager and see if that works. That’s where we are right now and no matter what you think of Jose there only so much he will be able to do working under people who restrict everything to bare essentials.

Levy is small time, this whole thing is too big for him now. Time to sell up…

I think Deeney could do a job for any team doing what he does. However, I agree 100% that we need to be aiming higher in terms of quality.

It could be that Levy just wants any old trophy in the cabinet this season and will agree to journeymen and experience, providing of course that it comes cheap. He did something similar with Arry to allow him to lift us away from relegation.

When we buy real quality it’s always potential quality because actual quality at the time of the transfer puts Levy in his default “its so difficult” mode and he won’t go near it;
Other teams are interested, the player is 26 and wants the big contract, his agent want his palms crossed with silver etc etc.

The point is, other clubs get it done and of course while all clubs have their budgets etc, to have a wage bill SEVENTH highest in the league and a net transfer spend that ranks SEVENTEENTH, yes SEVENTEENTH is absolutely ridiculous.

Spurs are ranked 8th wealthiest club in the world, these spending levels are a complete p*ss take. Anyone who cannot accept the absurdity of the situation, really does need to see a shrink…

Him or giroud would be OK for a season. We can save some dough and buy a proper striker next summer. (I’d buy daka though but he don’t wanna come. That milik is a decent finisher with both feet. I’d take him too. In José I trust. Could do with milik and deeney

The stadium hasn’t been sponsored yet coz we were putting the brand (Tottenham Hotspur stadium) out there for a bit with all the events we had lined up. “Gaping wound? What gaping wound is that then? How do you know levy won’t “go all the way at the new place? He’s doing very well so far (pre covid. Well we lost dembs walker and Erikson. (First two were at the old lane so I don’t care about that (broke) Not many eriksens knocking about. We were about to start signing quality, you just don’t wanna see it. All the crap you bang on about was at the broke lane. Money lane now. Now and future lane. (Not the past lane

It is truly embarrassing to be in this position. The story on Torino’s Bellotti didn’t surprise me, this is what I expect of Levy and the clown who “hates” the January transfer window, Hitchen. The man only gets 2 windows a year to show his worth, yet he doesn’t want one of them. He should be loving it, getting deals done on players ‘someone in the club has identified using a blindfold and a pin’. He should know who is available without even looking, especially if he has done his homework. But, I don’t think he does from what I have read, witnessed over his tenure and seen on Amazon.

A few weeks ago postees (not postmen) on this blog were singing the praises of Deeney, but they missed the point. Deeney is of a certain standard and Spurs should be setting our sights higher. To state we can only sign a back up so our options are limited is nonsense but if you keep spinning a yarn long enough people believe it. Kane can play as an outstanding 9 or a brilliant 10, so that gives options as to who we can sign. A top class striker could easily be signed, if Levy was willing to pay wages and fees. That is the crux of this. Levy should watch ‘The Untouchables’ and pay attention to the Irishman with a Scottish accent, ‘what are you prepared to do? ….you must be prepared to go all the way.’ Unfortunately, Levy has never been prepared to go all the way. That is why we are behind the 8 ball again.

We shouldn’t be losing Walker, Dembele and Eriksen and replacing them with inferior players, because that ultimately lowers the standard, hence why we are slowly falling out of the reckoning. Deeney would be a plaster to put over a gaping wound. Yeah, he bullies defenders and hits a mean penalty but I want players who take us to the next level, and the 8th richest club in the world should be able to do that.

On a separate note, I see the NFL stadium for the LA Chargers has come in at $5bn, but it already has a stadium sponsor! $400m over 20 years from SoFi. There is still money to be had in naming rights, but our esteemed chairman Has failed the club by not making a deal yet for our stadium. Mourinho could have used some additional funds to get Bellotti that is for sure.

West Brom would become my new friends if they take him. Personally I think a cardboard cut out of Messi would be a better addition to the team.
