My lived experience of Chelsea supporters – when it comes to anti -Semitism – is on a direct par with my experience of West Ham ones. Decades of coin throwing, hissing noises specifically designed to imitate gas chambers, songs about Hitler, songs about the Holocaust, together any number of bellowed profanities referencing anti-Semitic tropes.
It’s fair to say that Chelsea FC have been dogged by Jew hating miscreants in their fanbase for some considerable time. Two years ago, the club set up a “Say No to anti-Semitism” campaign.
To CFC’s everlasting credit, they have managed to do something that the Labour Party cannot, and have adopted the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism. This is a massively welcome move.
Matt Law in another piece for The Telegraph told readers that “Chelsea’s anti-Semitism campaign goes way beyond PR”. The short answer to that is that it needs to. I don’t believe anybody wants Chelsea to fail when it comes to finally getting their house in order, and whilst the club are working hard, it is now time for their fans to embrace ordinary, decent behaviour towards others.
I take a view the word “Yid” and it’s derivations don’t cause anti-Semitism, it’s anti-Semites cause anti-Semitism! Just like the word “brick” doesn’t cause broken windows.
Football has to applaud Chelsea FC for what they are trying to do, and football must help this club by making sure those responsible for hate get what’s coming to them- from the authorities.

Anyone who wants a laugh should read the clown that is Oliver holts piece in the mail from last week. How the bloke has a job writing for anyone other than viz baffles me. Basically says it’s all out fault. Not that the tossers like these lot and wet spam have been doing the anti Jewish thing for decades not years. As is pointed out, these lot are gonna carry on singing their songs regardless of what we do, they see it as their birthright. The only thing we can do is spin it and use it in a positive manner.
