Alasdair Gold shares the latest on injured duo Micky van de Ven and James Maddison

By Mehdi Gokal -

Alasdair Gold has provided the latest update on injured duo Micky van de Ven and James Maddison.

Reporting for Football London, he reveals that the Dutch defender is ahead of James Maddison in the race to return to Postecoglou’s side early next year.

Gold adds that the 22-year-old has begun some light outdoor running. However, both, him and Maddison will only return to group training, when there is absolutely no risk of their injuries recurring.

They suffered their injuries during the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, with Maddison’s ankle injury expected to keep him out till February while the former Wolfsburg defender is ahead of schedule and could be back for the FA Cup tie against Burnley as reported by Paul O Keefe.

Tottenham went through a major injury crisis in the last couple of months which resulted in them going winless for 5 games.

But the worst seems to be behind them with some players back and in form like Richarlison and some close to returning from their respective injuries.

They have now won back to back games and are only a point behind fourth placed Manchester City.

Spurs can still go on to have a great season but the January transfer window will prove crucial. If they can manage to bolster their squad next month, a top 4 finish is very much possible. They are also in the FA Cup and could have a chance to go all the way under Ange.
