‘quite interesting’: Alasdair Gold responds to Tottenham links with 23-year-old attacker

By Saikat -

Alasdair Gold believes people at the North London club are downplaying links with Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The former Chelsea graduate has managed to revive his career following a move to Nottingham Forest last summer. He has been a standout performer for the Tricky Trees and it has resulted in interest from some of the biggest clubs around.

Tottenham are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 23-year-old attacker but they might not be that serious about their pursuit of his signature.

While speaking on Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold said: “Interestingly I saw some bits and pieces about Callum Hudson-Odoi out there in recent days. Within Spurs there seems to be a pushback against that, that’s not someone they’re going for, which is quite interesting.

“I could understand it for a couple of reasons, for the homegrown perspective and the fact we know Forest have to sell players, but the current feeling seems to be that’s not somebody they’re going for.”

It might not have worked out for him at Chelsea, but the move to Nottingham seems to have revived his career. Hudson-Odoi has featured in 34 matches in his debut season at the club and has even contributed towards 10 goals (8 goals, 2 assists).

The English international has been a consistent performer for them and on the back of it, he has been linked with multiple top clubs. Tottenham are looking to reinforce their attack in the summer. While their priority is to sign a number nine, they are also interested in adding depth to the flanks.

Hudson-Odoi prefers playing on the left flank but he can feature on both sides as well as an attacking midfielder making him an ideal choice for Spurs. But, Gold believes they are not pushing for the 23-year-old which is quite interesting. People at the club are downplaying their interest in him.

Nottingham Forest need to sell a few of their players to help balance the books. Since Hudson-Odoi is a homegrown player, his departure could help the Tricky Trees significantly as it will be registered as 100 per cent pure profit. But, Spurs don’t seem interested despite the kind of opportunity they have to bring him back to London.
