Alasdair Gold gives update on Spurs’ interest in Premier League star, Paratici a ‘big fan’

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold, Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director, Fabio Paratici, is a ‘big fan’ of Newcastle United star, Allan Saint-Maximin.

A transfer fee of 16.5 million was paid by Newcastle United to OGC Nice in the summer of 2019, for the acquisition of Allan Saint-Maximin, prior to the club’s takeover by Saudi Arabian owners.

He has been a great addition to the team since he was signed but this season his impact has been diminished due to injuries, resulting in a reduced role as a substitute player for manager Eddie Howe.

The Frenchman was a starter in all of Newcastle United’s first four Premier League games of the season. However, since then, particularly after facing two injury issues, he has only appeared as a substitute in six league games, mostly in the later stages of the match.

It would be difficult to convince Newcastle United to part with Allan Saint-Maximin, as his contract with the club still has three-and-a-half more years remaining. But the team is currently performing well even without him in the starting lineup.

In a Q&A session, a fan asked Gold whether the Newcastle star could be a potential target for Tottenham given his reduced playing time.

Gold responded by mentioning that Fabio Paratici is a ‘big fan‘ of the French winger but the player’s long-term contract with the club makes it unlikely that he will be available for a good price in January. He said:

“Saint-Maximin has a long contract until 2026 so I can’t imagine he will come at a good price for a January window unless Newcastle have a sudden desire to get him out of the club which there currently does not seem any reason for.”

Newcastle will be in to rush to sell the player and would rather hope to further strengthen their squad by keeping hold of the flairy winger.
