Alan Shearer: Harry Kane was “too clever” for Manchester City duo

By Eddie Razo -

Harry Kane put on a performance that saw Tottenham Hotspur head into the Etihad Stadium, where he scored a brace, and have the north London club walkout with all three points against Manchester City.

Kane registered two key passes for the squad in 90 minutes of action, along with his two goals. The 28-year-old’s performance against the center-back tandem of Aymeric Laporte and Rúben Dias was “too clever” for the defenders, states former striker Alan Shearer.

Shearer went on to rave Kane’s performance against Manchester City as the England international puts Spurs back into the hunt for a top-four finish following a tough last week.

It is not often we say that about them. It was far too good; he was too clever for them. What a performance, it had absolutely everything; he was magnificent,” Shearer said on “Match of the Day” (via HITC)

Tottenham is now in seventh place, four points behind fourth-placed Manchester United with two matches in hand, so they can overtake The Red Devils if they take care of business in those two games.

If Spurs and Kane can continue this form until the end of the season, they can fight to have Champions League football in 2022-23.
