A ‘surprise move’ for PL defender is now on the cards as Spurs contact player’s agent

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to TeamTalk, ‘a surprise move’ could be on the cards for Trevoh Chalobah in the upcoming transfer window.

Tottenham have been linked with the Chelsea defender since the summer.

Romano previously revealed that Spurs wanted to sign him the Chelsea man in the summer but the plan hinged on them selling Eric Dier but they could not agree a deal for a Dier in time.

They continue to hold their interest in signing the defender from their rivals and as per TeamTalk, Spurs ‘have made contact’ with the player’s representatives to seek the possibility of a potential signing next month.

They are desperate to sign another top quality defender to add depth in their defense.

They only have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven as proper centre-back options, with the 22-year-old out injured until next month at least.

Eric Dier is an option in back up but not only is he also injured but he has also fallen out of favour under Ange with the Australian preferring the likes of full-back Emerson Royal over him.

Ange has already made it clear that he wants a new defender in the January window and a deal for Chalobah can not be ruled out.

Chalobah is yet to play a game for Chelsea this season and his lack of minutes might incline him toward a move to Tottenham, provided assurances of significant playing time under Ange Postecoglou.
