“A little grenade thrown” Matt Lawton Nails Crisis At Spurs – video

Good analysis of the Bale nonsense at Spurs here from The Time’s Matt Lawton. Those seeking to invent tales of lost dressing rooms really ought to confine themselves to the darker outskirts of social media. Bale is costing a fortune, and he’s evidently a million miles away from anything approaching the required standard in terms of fitness. Perhaps Gareth needs to apply himself more, or perhaps that’s it, and there is no more to give.

I take a view that the only viable solution with the 31-year-old is a time machine.

It seems to me that not only is Bale not the player who left and lit up La Liga and the Champions League, but he is not the same person. He doesn’t seem hungry to achieve more and has little drive to shove it up Real Madrid’s back passage. I was hoping he’d be here with a chip on his shoulder, but he looks more content to eat the chips whilst laughing and joking with his fellow underachievers.

I’m hoping I’m wrong, but I really don’t see it happening.

Whatever the truth behind it there was definite improvement in the weekends game. The first true glimpses of what we all hope he still has in his locker. Hope Mourinho gives him time to build on that…but knowing Mourinho, he’ll be back on the bench until the last 5 minutes. Or not in the squad. Needs to start Thursday. He’s still scored 4/5 goals which is probably more than Bergwijn, Lucas and Lamela have combined.
