Watch Djed Spence’s Best Dozen Actions From the 2021/22 Season – what do you see?

What I see are 2 goals and 4 assists from the boys’ last season at Nottingham Forest. They’ve come up, which is great for football, just like having Leeds United back in the top-flight is also a good thing.

This 21-year-old undoubtedly has skills and drive. There is also the business of being home-grown in the lad’s favour.

Beyond this, we have yet to see conclusive proof of what we call, in the footballing business, ‘the finished article.

Just as Oliver Skipp went to Norwich City to demonstrate he could master some of the fundamentals, we need to see evidence that Spence is ready for the big time.

Right now, I see a player that is better than some, but perhaps not most.

Interesting observation, it does seem to be a sensible short term strategy to succeed next season at some level

There have been some concerns about his attitude too. We don’t want him thinking he has become some ‘big name Charlie’, losing the desire to fight, disrupting the dressing room, and then being sold to Everton for a packet of crisps.

I reckon under Conte Spurs have gone from signing mostly players who ‘might be good in 3 years’ to signing some oven-ready players, ‘plus’ some who will be good in 3 years.

Considering Conte wants to win something… he needs a 1st team that can compete from the start of next season… not have a squad that might be ready in 3 years.

I think a policy of getting a good prospect only IF you have a solid first-teamer already in place… is a good balanced transfer policy.

Perisic can walk straight into the first team and probably stay there for his 2 year contract. We didn’t have to pay a large signing on fee… so who cares if we don’t make a large profit on resell after those 2 years? Levy gets his profits from the real-estate anyway.

This kid was in the Championship team of the season. He is 6’1, quick, skilful, and athletic – profiles exactly what Conte wants from a wingback.. Not to mention 21 and homegrown.

This is a no-brainer, especially at the money.

Exactly! He didn’t set the world alight in the biggest game of his career so far, the Championship play-off final. It’s easy to cherry-pick highlights.

Think I’d also like to look at his worst dozen too….. easy to snip that clip the way it has been, to make ordinary look good. Reckon using the same process we’d be able to get a great clip of Royal and a Serge Aurier dozen would blow both away!

Royal is a defensive liability unless everyone is behind the ball!

There’s plenty of life left in Perisic yet, don’t you worry about that!

He might not turn out in the Carling Cup, but Inter got nearly 50 games out of him last season.

What I saw was a potential defensive liability – although to be fair he does look like he has a decent cross in him and a bit of creativity.

Him for Royal would maybe be one extreme to the other!

That said as backup to Perisic I’d take him over Royal or Doherty every day of the week.

Could we keep him out of the nightclubs. Needs to be in his contract.

Just my opinion, but it seems to me that Conte is acquiring players for one season, in other words a team that he can use exactly how he wants for the length of his contract which covers next season and not beyond. Otherwise why consider signing a thirty three year old WB in Perisic with the likelihood of others of a similar age group being considered.
Spence is worth the punt again imo, because I don’t see the club losing dosh IF sold on in the future and I would punt on Johnson too for that matter.

I think we already have an abundance of players that sit in that ‘potential’ category. What we need most of all, right now, are starting 11 ready additions. I’ve nothing against taking a punt on this lad for the future, but only if it’s to replace a prospect that’s probably not going to step up anytime soon

We don’t need punts. We need players ready and able to go. We need to learn the lesson of the teams above us. Buy what you need now. Get them in early and ready to start the season.

I watched him closely at the weekend and was distinctly underwhelmed. He looks very raw still and lacking the physicality at this stage to cope with the PL

None of the players listed above will appear in a Spurs shirt this year under Conte, can guarante that.

Every new player is a punt in a way, young or old; you never know how things’ll go. This fella, however, looks more convincing to me than most youngsters we’ve either purchased or been linked with over the past several years.

Tony has enough yoots already in Gil, Clarke, Sarr, Harvey White, Scarlett, Parrott so on. He needs more men. Perisic is a great start!

Has reached the magic number of 100 games recently. The kid can only play against what is in front of him. He’s done well in the Championship and looks ready to step up in my opinion.

He is also London and has a background with Fulham. I wonder if he knows Sessegnon? He needs all the friends he can get at the moment……..

Is he on a par with what he have, probably but that’s all I see. So as the back up in the squad it might be worth the rejigging if we are moving Doherty and Royal on for he grown purposes. Issue would be getting a first choice in as well. RBLipzieg rb could be a better option for what could be a decent price

The question was; What do you see?

I see a 6’1″ athlete who is quick, strong, can play off both feet, has an eye for a pass and is full of confidence.

Sign him up. The boy is a bit special.

I dont know if other agree with me but I get the impression he believed the hype surrounded by him after the Arsenal match. I saw him a few times before and after that match and I could see him trying too hard ( taking a touch too many, trying to always beat his man etc) rather than do what was needed.

He is still raw and maybe 15 mil is good business, but again even if we did bring him in, I feel Conte would need a ready made upgrade at RWB and Spence aint that.

Decent anticipation, looks like he can use both feet, beat a man and pass/cross. If those clips are truly representative of what he would do in the PL, he looks a decent buy. Presumably, since we let Dele go and hopefully Winks will be moving, it would be a bonus getting a homegrown player in.

It seems like the boy has got some athletic talent, but is certainly not the finished article. Do we really want to be spending 15-20 mill on the lad, when in all honesty, at the EPL level, he’s a project, a la Sessegnon? My opinion would be no. I’d rather the money was invested in a proven commodity.
