Spurs XI vs. The Hammers

Confirmed line-ups

WHU – Fabianski; Johnson, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals; Antonio

TOT – Lloris; Emerson, Romero, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Moura, Ndombele, Son; Kane

West Ham United was the surprise package of last season’s Premier League and has carried on from where they left off (W4, D2, L2), a win here would lift them above fellow top-half side Tottenham Hotspur. It would also keep their fans dreaming of a second consecutive European campaign and more nights like Thursday’s 3-0 UEFA Europa League thrashing of Genk.

However, if the ‘Hammers’ are to remain in what could be an intense battle for European qualification, they must start picking up more points at home as they’re winless in three league games here (D1, L2). After conceding decisive goals after the 85th minute in the last two of those fixtures, they won’t need reminding about the importance of staying switched on for the duration.

Spurs are not favourites with the bookies, with West Ham notionally fancied, but the value is with the draw. The biggest talking point surrounding this match is undoubtedly Nuno’s future, should Spurs lose another London derby, so early in the season.

The real issue is our wonderful owner, Levy is in reality an office boy working to his instructions. Lewis has no interest in the club and since buying the club on Levy’s advice has never invested a penny. We have the only billionaire owner who has never invested in the club he owns, even the much maligned Ashley put money into Newcastle when required.
All Lewis and Levy are interested in is enriching themselves at the clubs expense.

Nuno has already arrived at the delusional state that managers reach normally much later with the ENIC/Levy toxic atmosphere. Totally delusional after-match comments in which he claims we were the better team and had more possession. The guy needs escorting off the premises and out the back door quietly

Not that long ago when we were above Liverpool. We built a stadium but they built a team, Mane can’t even get in their team, did Levy even try to get Mane? No, because he cost too much and Rose wouldn’t have had to google him.

The cynics among us thought that Walker going was the beginning of the neglect. The dullards thought it was good business for a ‘want away’ player and he had to go etc. The cynics have been proven right, as if they were ever not going to be… 🤔

Yep started with those 3 windows he failed to back Poch. Levy entirely to blame for our demise. He dug a hole back then and hasn’t stopped digging since.

Criminal neglect. Also took them two whole years to replace Wanyama. We played almost three seasons without a defensive midfielder. It’s a complete joke of a setup, it really is…

We huffed a bit, puffed a bit but same old inability to get the result. We’ve been like that since Levy pulled the plug on backing Pochettino a few years ago. Aside from the run to the CL final of course.

We lack zip and energy because the owners have no zip or energy and the dull, lifeless investment company mentality filters down from the top. Shocking state of affairs…

It’s the way Wolves played, it’s all he knows I think. Son not at his best didn’t help. Kane obviously wants out and it’s hard to blame him when you look at the mediocrity behind him. Levy failed to replace Eriksen, Dembele and Walker. We’ve not recovered.

Tangangry

Poor. Needed to play at a much higher tempo, way too much ‘trap -> look around -> play a 10yd sideways pass’. The question is WHY? Was it tactics by Nuno to slow it down or were the players just devoid of ideas?

Missed a really good chance to go 4th… although judging by the comments here you’d think we’re about to get relegated.

West Ham did exactly what they always do. They were solid defensively and focused on counters and set-pieces. Enough to beat us.

I like Reguilon, but he cost us the corner, and Kane looked like he couldn’t be bothered to mark his man. Poor.

A little more conviction from Ndom and Kane in crossing positions and we’d have been 2-0 up. Sadly, we were found lacking AGAIN.

This is going to be a massive January and what’s the betting Levy will go for somebody who needs googling? Reinforcing average with mediocrity.
Plus of course his usual kiddy wink punt who joins us in 2037 once he’s born.
