Sports Mail’s Oliver Holt says Harry Kane will question his Tottenham future while on the sidelines.
The England striker was injured in Tottenham’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool, a result that has probably ended their chances of winning the title.
It is still mathematically possible for them to mount a title challenge, but it is unlikely given that Kane is set for an extended period out of action.
The striker had talked about only staying at Spurs if the team matches his ambitions.
Holt says Spurs would be wondering when they can challenge successfully for the league title if they cannot do that in this unpredictable season.
He adds that Kane will also be questioning their chances of winning trophies and if he is doing the right thing by remaining at the club.
Holt then tipped him to join Manchester City.
He writes as regards to Spurs’ title-winning chances: “ if they are not going to challenge now, when so much is in flux, when will they ever challenge?
“The same question will be going through Kane’s mind during the enforced period on the sidelines that awaits him.
“As he nurses his swollen ankles, the England captain knows that the biggest decision of his football life is looming this summer. Should he stay or should he go? Should he stick with Spurs or should he move on in pursuit of the game’s big prizes?
“Given their parlous financial state, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid or Barcelona would be able to muster a bid close to the £100million it would take to get Kane out of Spurs.
“But Manchester City have long been rumoured to be preparing an attempt to lure him to the north as a replacement for Sergio Aguero and, if a bid materialises, the state of Spurs’ own finances as they struggle with the costs of their new stadium and the effects of the pandemic may make it difficult for Daniel Levy to turn down.”
Holt has always been a ridiculous journalist that struggles with the truth and it is no surprise to see him knock out a fluff piece on Kane, in fact, it would have been a shock if he did not grab this opportunity to sing from his soapbox once again.

Naymar: fck your two sessions a day bull$hii£. What’s it ever won? You ain’t burning me out. See you tomorrow
You are talking to yourself Mikey
The only person who really knows is Harry Kane and he’s saying nothing.
Just another mouthpiece coming out after a loss to spew nonsense. I would not get too worked up about the pundit psssing in the wind.
If I was a betting man…which, thanks to our criminal government I’m not….I’d say draw.
Poor ol’ Maurice has been done by 2nd to bottom Lorient…he may av inherited a poisoned chalice there. Over paid primadonnas with no focus….
You’ve supposedly just got back in title shout by winning at Spurs, you got Brighton on Wednesday indoors so you Put Henderson Centre Half and leave out your top striker?? Where’s all these “muscle strains” come from to key players too? 3 of em….weirdness around Liverpool this term. Plain wonkyness
Harry is probably irreplaceable, no mistake, but I think the club have to seriously consider selling our prize asset this summer, so let’s put all the cards on the table and think logically about this.
Firstly his injury record is deeply concerning, and his value is going to depreciate unless we can get him back playing again this season, and his evaluation will be the crucial part of whether to stick or twist.
If he recovers and regains form, he could bring in a substantial fee, one that only citeh would even consider, and that fee must be used in total to buy two maybe three genuine quality players that significantly improve the team, otherwise it’s a complete non starter.
Kane got tottenham records to break. No time for anything else elsewhere 🌚
On paper I agree. Liverpool certainly look like they’ve picked a team to drop points.
We’ll beg to differ.
I hope he stays too,but he is too ambitious not to move if we win nothing of importance again this summer. In fact I am a bit surprised he hasn’t made moves in that direction before now, considering he is picking these injuries up on a regular basis. He deserves to win something before he retires.
I have been a hit whore for the last 15-years. I really don’t understand the shame of being read.
Gents, aside from this nonsense being deeply unfair, ANYONE is fair game and none of my authors need to justify themselves to anyone.
precisely
Oliver Holt is an imbecile.
Leeds played some great football…Were great on the one on one challenges which they won consistently. Move the ball quickly and prcisely. They are a great team to watch.
It’s a no brainer sadly… Now or never. He goes now, he could be highest paid footballer in the world and win lots… Next season, who knows
Kane is 27 so massive decision at his door this summer!
In an industry which has lost so much credibility over recent years particularly in the investigative field and on the other side of the pond,Oliver Holt remains one of the most respected sports journalists in the UK.Maybe Grove just isn’t aware of him.
By calling him ridiculous you have shown us your journalistic level, read and learn. How many elite sports people have you interviewed?
I know….weird team selections, dodgy set plays, defensive errors, VAR madness.all at a premium in the corrupt Premier League.
Very interested to see how Liverpool do….
No chance we win the title. Not at all. Liverpool clearly happy to lose to West ham. I think they know West ham above us is worse than Liverpool.
I hope Kane stays but fully understand if he leaves in order to win silverware as did Berbatov, Carrick, Sol Campbell, Sherringham, Bale and Modric respectively!
I hope he stays… But will judge him harshly of he does. I can see him at city next year.
City too. When City were mid table and looking awfull I said it was City or Jose for the league. Maintain thats what they are pushing. The City v Spurs match in couple weeks is where it’s heading….the Pep/Jose revival.
What replacing 2 of your potent front 3 with Origi and
Shaquiri? West Ham fans will be delighted!
Whom we play shortly – Must we?
Actually the beneficiaries again are Man City!
Not so strange these days. Standard.
Seemingly the PL title is heading to Man City!
And there it is….full house. Leeds tank Leicester away. Every result gone Jose’s way. I’ve lost out on a fortune from this lockdown bollox.
West Ham v Liverpool
[Strange one no Mane or Firmino in starting X1??)
Hello, Hello, now then now then – Leicester 1 v Leeds Utd 3.
Earlier Chelsea 2 v Burnley 0
