“The most exciting young manager in Europe” Eric Dier surely having a laugh

Tottenham faces off against bitter rivals Arsenal on Sunday and as per usual players, pundits, social media influencers and many others will be expressing an opinion and the latest is our very own Eric Dier.

The England international has given the normal it will be a tough game and that form is irrelevant and it is going to be a tough game but he went a little further lauding the Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

According to Dier, Arteta is a great coach and results will come good for the Gooners. This is what he had to say when asked whether Arsenal results will improve, as quoted by The Metro.

“Yeah, of course. ‘They’ve got a lot of quality in their team and I think they’ve got a very exciting young manager. ‘I think he’s maybe the most – personally, obviously I’m not on the inside! – but from what I see, the most exciting young manager in Europe, for sure”

“I like his way and the way in which he seems to be as a manager so I think they’re in good hands in that sense. ‘We know they have a lot of quality in their squad and we’ll be very aware of that on Sunday.”

Well, according to a large section of the Arsenal fanbase that is an opinion that is not widely shared.

Looking on from the outside I find Arteta a shockingly poor manager without a clue that has been very lucky on occasions and a bit like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man Utd, gets timely results that keep the wolves at the door.

I get the feeling that Dier is having a laugh but dressing it up as respect of some sort. The last thing any player should be doing is attacking or degrading their upcoming opponents, that just motivates them and I suspect that Dier is making sure that he is not responsible for boosting the Gunners in any manner before the game kicks off.

I have no way of knowing for certain but I doubt that Dier actually believes that Arteta is “the most exciting young manager in Europe” not when he has worked under the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and gone up against managers at Ajax and RB Leipzig.

At least Dier has not said the “wrong thing” in the build-up, we will leave that to the Arsenal social media team to put their huge feet in their mouths.

Yes! Arteta’s so close to that vote of confidence haha, then again I swear Ole has survived two or three of those so far…he’s resilient

Having seemingly wasted £72m on Pepe, Gabriel looks a good defender.
Why they sold keeper Martinez to Villa is a mystery as arguably he is better than Leno. Lose to Spurs and expect Arteta to receive that dreaded vote of confidence!!

Really hope Ole and Arteta do just enough, good runs in Europe maybe, and guide their sides to wonderful 6th and 7th place league finishes respectively – to keep their jobs for another (underperforming) season ;D
