Just as Tottenham announced huge financial losses that might continue if the club’s fans are not allowed back into the stadiums, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has given the club some hope with the return of fans now possible before this year ends.
Teams have played football behind closed doors for much of this year after the coronavirus pandemic forced it to be suspended, initially in March.
Last season was finished with no fans and this campaign has started with the fans still not allowed into the stadiums.
The absence of fans has made a telling effect on the finances of football teams around the world, and Spurs are one of them.
Johnson has, however, just made an announcement that supporters might be allowed to return to the stadium after the current lockdown in England ends.
Football London reports that while speaking to the House of Commons, Johnson said England will return to a new stricter three-tiered system, after the current lockdown.
Under the new plan, the restrictions in a particular area will determine how many fans would be allowed into the stadia.
The report claims that Tier 1 areas will be allowed to host around 4,000 fans for outdoor sports.
Tier 2 areas will be allowed to welcome 2,000 spectators, while Tier 3 areas will be forced to play behind closed doors.
Spurs will hope that the virus infection rate doesn’t increase in their area when this new plan comes into force.

As the crowd would likely be made up of season tickets holders and there is no beer for sale I don’t see the club’s making any money. No singing ,shouting or breathing allowed either.Sounds like fun although I don’t see how that could be policed.
BoJo has said that there will be no mandated requirement to take any vaccine when it is available. However they will almost certainly call for any people attending social events to show a certificate of negativity for COVID.So if you have objections about any rushed vaccinations you can forget any social entertainment.
Won’t make that much of a difference unless 1500 of the 2000 are the highest paying customers. 2000 punters is 3% of capacity after all.
Better than nothing, unless the costs of opening the stadium up outweigh the revenues accrued. No beer to be served, after all, which reduces the spend in the stalls by 15-30% per person attending.
4000 in our stadium?
Errr….someones sitting there mate
