Darren Bent is excited to watch Tottenham’s new signing Carlos Vinicius play for the club and he claims that Spurs can pair him with Harry Kane instead of playing either of them on their own.
Spurs ended their long wait to sign a backup striker to Kane when they reached an agreement with Benfica to take Vinicius on loan for the rest of the season.
The Lilywhites will now have another frontman to turn to and the plan has always been that they will play him when they need to rest Kane.
However, the former Tottenham striker claims that he has watched Vinicius and that the Brazilian brings something different to the team, and he can actually be paired with Kane.
Adding that the Brazilian has good hold up play and he also provides a lot of assists to his teammates, making him the perfect player to play behind the striker or alongside one.
“I’ve seen him before and what I like about him, while his stats are brilliant, it’s the way he links play, he’s a big strong centre-forward,” Bent told Football Insider.
“He’s quicker than you think, because he’s so big once he gets going his stride kind of takes him away from people. He’s got good technique, he’s been scoring a lot of goals, a lot of assists.
“Finally, they’ve got backup to Harry Kane but not only that, they’ve got a different type of option as well. I think he’s like Llorente but a little bit better because he’s more mobile, better in the air and I think his link play’s a little bit better.
“Maybe, if they’re struggling, they don’t have to take Harry Kane off and they can go with the both of them because they can maybe be a little bit more direct with Vinicius.”

Ha ha wrong post I’m guessing😂
All 3 of these comments are relevant and possible . Not many teams have that sort of firepower up top that’s for sure.
Huh?
Huh?
You regularly read this blog but it’s Darren Bent’s opinion that’s bothering you?!!
There are far too many of these ex pro footballers who spout there drivel, with most of them on talksh#te, must be a coincidence.
Please stop quoting Darren Bent, why is he suddenly the oracle of all wisdom just because he’s ended up on Talk Sh*te?
“Me missus could ave scored that!”
“Sarn, Sarn? Wanna play up front Saturday for the Spurs? The boy Benty keeps missin’ em!” 😂
Drogba II.
He’s got the strength to make it in the PL that’s for sure. Mou’s ideal striker in many ways – a big, strong target man and a decent finisher. But not slow like Llorente was, in fact he has surprising pace for a big lad. He can also play out left in an emergency too. Bit of a Josh King upgrade.
Sounds like the perfect front 3 for the group stages of the ropey giving the other lads a rest.
That’s without mentioning Alli, Lo Celso AND Lamela
For once I agree with Darren Bent. I think Lucas Moura on the right, Bergwijn on the left and Vinicius as the main striker could be just as explosive as Sonny, Bale and Kane. An extremely mouth watering prospect for us.
No, he’s had one good game but he still is a liability, he can not be trusted to do the right thing come defending inside his own box, along with Dier and Sanchez we have a weakness at the back that wasn’t addressed and that is clearly center back. We should have signed not just one but two class center backs and cleared out the dead wood. In should have come Kim Min-Jae and Skriniar and out should go Dier, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Juan Foyth.
