Spurs battling Premier League sides for Portuguese league star

Spurs want to sign Benfica striker, Carlos Vinicius, but they are not the only Premier League team looking to land him.

The Lilywhites have been busy in this transfer market as they look to improve their squad and to make this season one to remember.

The 25-year-old Brazilian scored 24 goals in 47 games for the Portuguese side last season and he has been targeted as the perfect backup to Harry Kane.

TVI24 show Mais Transferências was speaking about Spurs’ interest and they mentioned that Jose Mourinho’s team isn’t the only side from the Premier League that is looking to sign the attacker.

Journalist Rui Pedro Braz claims that Crystal Palace and Leicester City are also interested in making a move for him.

His release clause is pegged at 50m euros, a fee that his suitors are struggling to pay at the moment.

It claims that Spurs has been interested in signing him the longest and that the Lilywhites have already had a 30m euros bid rejected for his signature.

Spurs need to land a striker before this transfer window closes and it remains unclear if they will return for Vinicius with a better offer.

It is so obvious whom we should sign as a back up to Kane that I am amazed that his name never crops up . He is cheap, young with potential and he’s at a club with whom Levy can do business, because that is not always the case.
Is he?
A. Roy Race of Melchester Rovers.
B. Jimmy Grimble
C. Luka Jovic of Real Madrid.
Answers on a postcard please.

Given, the original report was from Mundo Deportivo, and like all transfer reports should be taken with a measure of salt, but we’re a week from deadline day and the dead wood is still at the club and we’re scrapping around for average strikers to no avail. I can understand Mourinho’s bewilderment.

Spurs have been trying to sell Foyth all summer for £15m I don’t think we refused £25m? I see the report is from a Spanish newspaper. Some reports saying he would be for sale alongside Rose & Aurier and others saying Spurs want to send him on loan.I suggested his value today would be £15m and other posters said we would be lucky to get £10m.I think Levy would have bitten Leeds hand off for a player who only cost £8m.

The usual fannying about trying to get a tenner off, and it looks as though Milik may well be joining City, who will say “£26M + addons? Sounds good, there you go, Thanks very much.”
We knocked back 25M back for Foyth a fortnight ago which would have funded Milik. I’d have bitten the hand off Leeds for that.
Now we’re interested in Vinicius – who will command a far bigger outlay? He’s the better signing in my opinion, hence the bigger asking price, but we will have more competition for his signature, and ultimately somebody else will be willing to pay more.
Levy will probably pull something off before next Monday – likely ON Monday – but it’s not going to set the league on fire, just the next in a long line of damp squibs.
