Breaking news this morning is that Tottenham are willing to listen to bids for Tanguy Ndombele. Both the Daily Mail and The Sun are independently running articles outlining still to be defined issues that have prevented the Frenchman from assimilating in the Premier League.
I’d contend that anyone who has watched the opening episodes of the Amazon Prime documentary, All or Nothing will have a decent grasp on what has happened ‘behind the scenes’ at Hotspur Way.
José Mourinho is not a coach that pulls his punches. In fact, before the Mourinho haters dive in to remind us all how fundamentally evil the Special One is, great coaches have always been blunt characters. Neither Bill Nicholson, Brian Clough, Bill Shankly, nor Sir Alex Ferguson had time for fools.
It’s not a struggle to believe that Tanguy Ndombele was asked how many cheeseburgers he had for breakfast (or something equally humiliating for a so-called professional sportsman to hear) and stormed out.
To Dele Alli’s eternal credit, when José told him – front of the entire squad and an Amazon camera crew – that he was f*cking lazy in training, the lad’s immediate response was to giggle.
However, when José told Serge Aurier another truth – that he was a walking VAR penalty call – the Ivorian looked far from amused.
Now, the problem everyone involved here faces, is that being thin-skinned isn’t sufficient a reason for Amnesty International to dispatch a rescue squad.
Spurs will never recoup enough money from any deal they attempt to strike in this window. If indeed, anyone would be daft enough entertain buying Ndombele.
Daft? Anyone taking the lad on would have to be beholden to his fragile ego for the duration of his contract.
The only sane solution is to get some mediation underway and get Tanguy back into the fold.

I just think we need to stick with it for a while with Tanguy. He might wake up soon…
🤣
Watch him play against wolves and burnley again….. Only himself to blame for being that 💩… You can’t trust in a club record signing on top wages who can’t be bothered to run… Shambolic.
I agree. Our transfer strategy is a complete mess, make it up as we go along garbage.
Which is sort of why I don’t blame Tanguy quite as much as others, his situation is made worse by the timing of everything. No signings for 12 months then you put all this pressure on a raw French boy? It’s bo**ocks it really is…
We need someone in the mould of T Alcantara from Bayern Munich.
He’s not the only one.
Have people actually watched the performances when he did well and scored goals after he first arrived? I honestly thought, wow he’s gonna be top draw for us.
Is he a lazy c**nt or just hanging about with the wrong people? If you can get to the bottom of that and sort it, you’re gonna have a player.
Too much pressure too because Levy only spends very little which puts far too much early expectation on a young player from abroad on a big fee who might be being badly advised.
If he was at Chavs, Liverpool, Citeh he’d have time. We were all waiting because we signed nobody for a year.
This is partly Levy’s fault, as are most of our football issues it seems. Tightwad with a bald head…
True, could do a loan out and a loan in to plug the gap for 3-6 months to let him get his mojo going again and bring him back with his head in a different place. I like hard grafting players, who doesn’t but the quality is what really makes the difference.
You can’t replace that with a few PEH’s… PEH needs a partner with quality. Dier/Dembele was a great partnership because of the blend. We’ll win nothing with half a team of PEH’s.
Up and down, run about, get your foot in and repeat. Then what?
Yeah, but there comes a point where he has to start repaying those with patience. Let’s look at the big picture, let’s hope he will too…
Sell Ndombele and buy Grealish.
Apparently every scene on all or nothing so far with Tanguy has him eating?
It’s a puzzle why Ndombele cant cope with his situation, if your not 100 pc sure then why sign to come here ?
In life you get opportunities, you take them and make the most of them, or you decide it’s not for you, I dont get what his problem is when you consider the club and what he earns, the city he is in, and less than an hour from his home country. The only thing to question is his own character and lack of ambition imo.
I wish N’dombele was as quick as you.
If you worked for our council it’s expected as well as excepted
😂😂😂😂😂
i work for the council ,its excepted.
We certainly would.
As you have put below ,,i also was very happy he signed and if he did sort his s h i t out would put our midfield right up there and we could dominate a lot of games….
I’m frustrated too man. Hope we can work it out and get him doing what he’s great at.
Ok
We need consistency week in week out not turning it on when he feels like it. It’s still a no from me unfortunately and swap or sell asap.

Its just hope man. I ain’t got a clue what’s going on. We’ve got to try fix whatever it is. Unplayable baller
You seem to have more hope and belief than the rest of us that he may come good.
Honestly i dont care whats up with him apart from he is not playing due to it.
We wait for ages to break our transfer record and potentially dont see him playing for 2 seasons ?? whilst he by the way earning £200 k a week.
My man has no say at all in there🌚. I know you were playing though
Have a word with your man and get N’dombele shifted, cut our losses and move on.
I’ve been on them jobs.🌚. I just focus on what I’ve got to do, then go home. Best way. I have said to past guvnors “where dya get him from then? that normally gets’m gone
How do you feel on a job if you’re working your butt off and others around you are having a laugh taking it easy and not pulling their weight.
I’m baffled by it.
I can only judge him by what we have seen this season, and we aren’t getting performances or value for money from him,I would prefare someone else who fits the new image of Jose and immediately talks like Hojbjerg & Doherty in it to win it. Delighted & proud to sign for Spurs and ready to give their all. Doesn’t sound like N’dombele!
I leave this one with you. Have our boys back man. 🌚
Is he not running and moving because he has injuries, psychological problems. People forget that we are dealing with human beings, no matter what their wage or transfer fee.
I’m not talking about going easy on him or being all sympathetic if he’s not trying but if he’s gonna hang himself then he should be given the rope with with to do it. Freezing him out is t an option and neither seemingly is selling him right now.
The boy is talented, at least we have that as a starting point. It might be about going back to square one, telling his cousins and brothers, hangers on or whoever these mysterious people are to f**ck off and leave him alone. That might be a good start.
His agent can’t not get a mention. But then again what do they care (they should) as long as they get their slic€
I’m hoping its just a crunching Jose challenge to his pride that hurt him. Time heals🌚
My up vote.
No one knows what’s going on in Tanguy’s head in his world outside of work, Or what may have p’d him off at work. I think people are being way to harsh on him.
Why would they not, he is.
According to my every other Tuesday guy in there he laughs and jokes in there. Sacramento is so well loved in there by the youngsters. (Excuse the amount of “there’s” 🌚
“If we get rid of him, it will be our worst outgoing transfer, since glen hoddle to monoco” Don’t forget gazza to Lazio🌚 we needed the dough desperately, had to be done
We have only two viable options. Either Ndombele must be fully integrated into the team or we must sell him. Ultimately that is a decision for the manager. We have a world class manager who has had a glittering career with more than 25 trophies won, versus a player with a huge amount of talent, who nevertheless has won nothing and doesn’t seem to be able to be fit for two consecutive games, nor willing to put in a full shift on the all too infrequent occasions when he is fit.
In an ideal world one would love to see Ndombele come good and turn himself into the world class player he could undoubtedly become, but whether his mental make-up is going to allow that to happen is another matter entirely. Mourinho is going to shape this team in his own image and it is highly doubtful if Ndombele represents that image, or will ever do so. Therefore, in my opinion, if the relationship is doomed to failure, the best course of action would be to accelerate the departure of the player.
Either way, this whole Ndombele fiasco is a huge failure of scouting and a failure to perform due diligence on the character and background of a player before spending a club record transfer fee. Even more galling is that for the same price as Sessegnon and Ndombele combined, one could have acquired Bruno Fernandes and Van de Beek, now both at Utd. In consequence, with Lo Celso still apparently unfit, despite a plethora of attacking talent, we have no creative CM in the whole squad. A searing indictment of a shambolic transfer policy.
Totally. They know when he’s happy he’s unplayable
Read somewhere “Tanguy looks more comfortable on the ball than he does off it” It will be a damn shame if he doesn’t work out at Tottenham. Imagine him and the rest of our attackers running at them, players switching and breaking, the decoys, kane just waiting for it to arrive , Frightening
When I saw he had been picked for the French team before getting covid,I thought his standing in the game has not dropped to the levels of what we think of him in England. They will put his performances this year down to his injuries, new country, new team, two different managers and being misunderstood.
I hope someone does take him though!
I’m not sure who will be looking to add a problem player for a big fee in this market. Most clubs will be looking at safe ways to spes what little money they may have access to. Just think what Covid has done to most football clubs in Europe – wiped £100m or more off their cash balance. You need a backer to spend big in this market.
Other clubs will be in the position we were in last year before buying him, looking at him as a player with problems who with their nurturing and carefull handling can be world class on his day. Whenever that maybe who knows.
I think he won’t come good and we should get rid if we can. £40m I’d take but I don’t know where that would be coming from. He could well be here for another season.
Disaster.. Whoever it was poch, hitchen, levy. Whoever scouted and wanted him and decided to pay him loads should all be accountable.
On another matter than N’Dombele who is a disaster, are there any thoughts on the appointment of Trevor Birch? Rebecca Caplehorne looks to have been moved sideways, to a newly created role which will” lead, drive and embed football governance processes, contractual matters and best practice across the Club”. What a load of corporate gobbledygook. Does Ricky Gervais write Tottenham’s corporate PR spin? Steve Hichen has supposedly been promoted when in fact he was already doing the job and is now fully in charge of our scouting team, which incidentally does not exist. As chief scout, I imagine he recommended N’Dombele. Then there is Trevor Birch’s job description. Does this mean that Levy is going to take a backseat in football matters and concentrate on counting the bog rolls in the corporate loos to check that they are not being stolen?
How do you know what all the squad think? It would help if he could run and finish 90minutes which he hasn’t managed for 9 months!….. All the squad think that Kane is a blinding player thats for sure…. But you are talking about our biggest ever flop considering he’s also a club record signing and on kanes wages…… And to think people called adebayor a wage thief… He wasnt picking up nearly a million a month to sit on the bench.
Let’s see how Hojbjerg & Doherty two hard working players react to him strolling about when it matters,we can’t carry anyone not putting in a shift.
He played better in the game against City than he has in a Spurs shirt all season.
Eh, I doubt it, all the squad think he’s a blinding player!
If they get rid of him, it will be our worst outgoing transfer, since Glenn Hoddle to Monaco! (For football ability)
If Sissoko can get from, Shitsoko to getsoko! Then you have to give NDombele 2 years! Because when ndombele is fit, there’s not many players can do what he can. Must keep him at all costs, and yes, mediation has to come into play.
Look how he played against Man City in both legs of the champions league match season before last, us experts can’t all be wrong.
We need the money or another player to replace him.
Send him out on loan to a club that has the money and the interest to buy him.
amazing
you can understand Ozil more than Tanguy though, at least Ozil has memories and trophies and maybe just doesn’t have the fire anymore. Fair enough to take an elongated golden handshake.
Tanguy was late to pro football and hasn’t done anything yet. To seemingly not want to run, or move, without the ball seems an insane way to build a career
I don’t want him anywhere near the squad,he will be a bad influence on team morale and drag others down to his level.Jose took time out to baby sit him with one to one training during lockdown something he looked badly upon, and I have said before on here that we cannot take the gamble that he will all of a sudden see the light and start to perform to the levels expected from a record signing. Its better for all concerned that we now talk to the sides wanting to buy him and move him on.It will also give us the opportunity to sign a central midfielder who Jose can rely on and make us stronger. If Barcelona or Inter Milan want him but don’t have the cash then a swap for some of their players is an alternative.
You left the c out of mediation, H.
If the deal is stage payments to Lyon then they will want their full fee over the next few seasons. The club are probably locked into a repayment scheme so if they sell him for peanuts that’s just not viable. Unless a buyer turns up and pays the asking price. Nobody’s gonna are they…
Those mentioned are all my sort of managers.
When Ferguson won his first title I’m sure he didn’t gather the boys and say “well done lads you are the greatest”. He would have said “you think you are great – come back when you have repeated it and then won 6”
No-one outside the club knows wtf is going on but my belief is that he ain’t right in the head and nothing the club can do will sort it.
I hope I am wrong 100% as we are going to lose a lot on the dud but as Steve says those wages are crippling I still cant believe he is on £200k pw but it was published on that site months back.
He hardly played under Poch either so whatever the problem was then that issue probably still remains. I agree, the only way out of this is to work on him. That’s management I’m afraid, if Tanguy was 30 and had a year left it would be simple but quite clearly this is a problem to which the solution will take time and patience.
We can stamp up and down in outrage about the fact we think he’s not trying and raking in almost 200k a week but he’s just one of many all over Europe. I’d prefer Tanguy to deal with at this stage of his career than Ozil. There is scope to do something with him, hopefully.
I usually agree with you H.. But not on this one… Maureen will want him gone I’m sure. The main problem (as you say) is who on earth will want him… Having him on the books for another season is another 11 or 12 million a year on wages alone…. Sooner he’s gone the better.
