Tottenham continue to covet classy international despite having strong offer rejected

A backup striker to Harry Kane is almost certainly one of Tottenham’s priorities when the transfer window officially reopens this summer.

The Englishman remains one of the most prolific strikers in the world and Spurs have been reliant on his goals for the past few seasons.

The problem, however, is that when he hasn’t been available through injury or suspension, the team has suffered and that happened to them early this year.

His injury coincided with Spurs enduring a tough run of form that saw them exit the FA Cup and Champions League.

Turkish Channel A Spor reports that the Lilywhites had a bid for Fenerbahce striker, Vedat Muriqi, rejected in the last transfer window. Desperate to land a backup to the injured Kane, the Lilywhites offered €19m for him, but it was turned down.

The Kosovan striker has continued to shine for the Turkish side and Tottenham reportedly still has an interest in signing him.

SportsWitness is now claiming that the Lilywhites have maintained their interest in signing him.

The tall 26-year-old has scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists in 28 league games this season.

Spurs’ quest to land Muriqi has also been made easier with the report further claiming that his team has reduced their asking price for him.

Not sure that Muriqi would be the best use of the limited funds that Spurs may have available but a back up is required for Kane and it may be a case of beggars cannot be choosers in a limited pool of players available.

Boy is this a tiresome story, pretensions to be among the games elite teams and then this shabby, penny pinching search for somebody to play maybe fifteen to twenty games a season and chip in with a a few goals. Embarrassing.
