Davinson Sanchez has warned his Spurs teammates that they have to perform better when football returns if they are to end this season in a European place.
Tottenham was on a poor run of form that saw them lose five of their six games just before the coronavirus pandemic forced football to be suspended.
They were also dumped out of the Champions League by unfancied RB Leipzig just before football across Europe was suspended.
Jose Mourinho’s side still has hopes that they would end this campaign in a European place when the campaign is restarted, and Sanchez has sent a warning to his teammate that if their level of performance doesn’t get better, they should forget about their targets.
He claimed that they know how tough the Premier League can be, but if they want to achieve their end of season goals, they would have to do better than they were doing before the lockdown.
‘I think everyone knows as a team we expect to do better,’ the 23-year-old told Sky Sports.
‘The Premier League is always hard but we need to improve, that’s why we put so much work in every day, we’ll see what’s going to happen but looking back we can’t play like we were doing before.
‘We have to do better if we are going to finish in the position that we want.’
Sanchez is right, it really is simple, the lads cannot play as they were when the season was suspended, not if they want to finish the season in a European place.
