Tottenham has been named as one of the teams battling for the signature of Brazilian star, Gerson.
The 22-year-old has had a stint in Europe with AS Roma after he turned down a move to Barcelona to join the Italians.
However, he struggled to settle in Rome and returned to his native Brazil to join Flamengo.
He was an important part of the Flamengo side that reached the final of Club World Cup where they faced Liverpool.
His performances for the Brazilians have drawn the attention of top European sides again, Tottenham and Arsenal are reportedly the two English teams looking to snap him up.
His father spoke to Yahoo Sports about his son’s future recently and he claimed that Arsenal is interested in making a move for him.
When asked about interest from Tottenham and other teams he added that they are also interested in his son.
“Nobody knew about Arsenal, but now that I’m telling you, everyone will know,” Santos said when asked about the Gunners’ interest.
When also asked about interest from Tottenham and other teams, he said:
“Everyone you hear there is true. But they only probed.”
Spurs are targeting a number of new players ahead of next season and they may stand a better chance of landing Gerson because Jose Mourinho is Portuguese and shares the same language with the young midfielder.
