Dele Alli has called on Tottenham to step up and deliver a performance against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Spurs face a 1-0 deficit from the first leg of their round-of-16 tie and so they have it all to do in the return fixture in Germany this week.
However, Alli wants the squad to adopt a positive attitude despite their struggles in recent weeks, calling on Tottenham to step up and show their character.
“We’re in a position where everybody needs to step up and help turn this around. This isn’t a time to get our violins out, we have to step up and deal with these situations,” he told the media at the pre-match press conference, as seen in the video below.
Injuries haven’t been kind on Spurs with long-term absentees Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son and Moussa Sissoko still sidelined.
Steven Bergwijn picked up an ankle knock at Burnley at the weekend and could miss the rest of the season as a result, as per BBC Sport, and so Mourinho’s options are limited particularly in the final third.
That has all contributed to a five-game winless streak across all competitions, and so it’s now a crucial period in Tottenham’s campaign.
Nevertheless, Alli wants others to step in and make the difference to keep their European hopes alive, and so it remains to be seen if they can turn things around against Leipzig despite those setbacks.

Aren’t they paid (enough) to deliver a performance for every match?
Coming from a player who’s been stinking the place out for months……. hardly a battle cry. 🤷🏻♂️
