Where Was VAR To Flag Up This Dwight McNeil Handball For Burnley Goal? [Video]

From the Football Association website:

“It is an offence if a player gains possession/control of the ball after it has touched their hand/arm and then creates a goal-scoring opportunity.”

Look at the slow-motion replay in the below video – at the 12.43 mark on the match clock. The use of the arm clearly helps McNeil bring the ball under control and away from Davinson Sanchez, allowing him to get a cross in.

So what if Wood’s toe-poke was a phase later – handball is handball surely?

The annoying thing is I’m sure I have seen this sort of offence turned over by VAR several times. Where is the consistency that we were promised?

Too many phases of play to say the handball influenced the goal. Blame Lloris who couldn’t catch the Corona virus

Had the same opinion myself, he clearly used the arm to control the ball after impact.
