I’d like to go back in time and slap 11-year-old me in the face.
My dad would bring a Daily Mirror back from work every day, and Oliver Holt was one of their top football writers. I couldn’t tell you his exact title at the time, but he had a regular column atop which his picture sat proudly.
To a kid who didn’t know any better, he was quite possibly the first inspiration I had to try to become a journalist (hey, so plans change).
There were so many talking points from our FA Cup tie with Norwich last night – Eric Dier’s actions, fan behaviour, Tim Krul’s heroics that there was endless scope for Holt to say something nuanced after the match.
But it turns out Holt is bitter, unprofessional and actually thoroughly uninteresting, trying to stay relevant by hanging onto the coattails of a one-sided grudge that he has created with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, continually low balling the Portuguese at every possible opportunity.
But instead he came up with this…no better than the average Twitter troll.

The trolling is unnecessary and childish. However, so was the football we played against Norwich…
