Reality Check: Mourinho Not Planning “massive changes” this summer

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he has no plans to make “massive changes” to the squad this summer, but will look to try and improve it.

With 10 games to play, we still find ourselves in contention to secure Champions League qualification while our FA Cup hopes remain alive.

We’ll have a tough task in Germany next week in the second leg of our Champions League round-of-16 tie with RB Leipzig, but there is certainly still plenty to play for across all competitions.

Perhaps with that in mind and the fact that we’ve done so with a number of key injury setbacks along the way, Mourinho has explained why he doesn’t envisage making significant changes this summer.

“There will not be massive changes,” he said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “First of all, because that is not what we need, secondly because that is not the profile of the club and thirdly because of what the market is.

“Year after year after year it’s more difficult so I’m not thinking about an overhaul at the moment. But of course we need to make our squad better.”

Time will tell who is targeted in order to make that happen, but the more immediate focus will be on finishing the season strong and achieving our objectives.

Secondly “it’s not the clubs profile” to buy quality fit players that will strengthen and reinforce the squad?.. We need a few out and a few in more like. Leave it any longer and a full transition will be needed as opposed to just a few. That’s if we are looking to fight on all fronts… What happens next year when kane and son are injured?

Just getting his excuses in early.

I wonder if he has factored in Kane being enticed by CL football and an ambitious club? After Kane’s loyalty Levy will probably do an Eriksen and try to price him out of a move giving us another frustrated player.

I think the market will tell us that no CL next season means Jose will start recruiting 30 yo former players with free or low transfers and healthy wages.
