5 Bite Size Takeaways From Poch’s Olympiakos Presser

⚫️ DUMMIES It frequently occurs to me at airport security checking that some people, correction, too many people give the distinct impression that they have never left their bloody homes before, let alone encountered anything as mystifying as ‘an airport’.

Virtually every Spur presser begins with desperately inadequate people being asked to do the most basic things. Please submit a question that doesn’t make Poch wince. Please speak directly into the microphone. Please then pass that device on, so that others… repeat to fade.

⚫️ ️”WHERE’S YOUR MEDAL?” Jesus wept, first clown out the traps is raking up the Champions League final loss. Really?

Poch got a 20-minute question from the Fast Show journo ?

“Scorchio, interisoso populous boutros outros Gali Manana, kalti kalto, Nyy, jokio. Scorchio. Gizmo action pumpo. Fabricato con blud”

YOU WANT TROPHIES BUT BIG PLAYERS WON’T SIGN EXTENSIONS… to which Poch deflected horribly. ‘The club will take the best decision’… I think we ll know what that means.

⚫ WILL YOU CHANGE THE TEAM THAT MADE SO MANY FANS HAPPY ON SATURDAY? ‘I want to be contender in the 4 competition’, so that’s a yes, then.

Maybe, don’t rush home from work, folks.

Oh dear lord! A minor ironic quip explained in full turns it into a tiring waffle fest. It was meant in jest; your (understandable) view that the old and less profitable way of organising euro footy was a more clean cut and honest way of sorting the wheat from the chaff, is a view that makes sense to your purely football centred thinking, but not at all to the ‘authorities’ profit lead designs. Hence my ironic, winking, admonition. With respect, Mr Sturge.

Would take either at moment as Poch is a busted flush.

So who are your choices to come in and make us great again. ENIC out of course but who’s the new coach, Jose or floppy chops, Wenger?
Who are we buying in? I hate this shit but all the Poch out rubbish is just that. It was fukin torture to watch Sanchez & Davies. Dele & Tanguy where still on holiday. Then there was CE23, he should of been off 1st WTF happened there.
But we have 2 away goals against a team not beaten since Feb.
51 goals for 5 against.

I think people don’t like this one because it was a bit of a myth buster.

1. If we go ahead early we tend to win. NOPE

2. We usually play better second half. NOPE

Also the game mirrored the Arsenal game which is an unhappy memory and hints at a pattern developing.

In reality probably not a disaster and if we play a stronger side against Leicester and win then I guess it was a price worth paying. We shall see, there’s a team there, you can see it…but it’s not clicking yet

Of course we do but Pochettino goes missing every window and hides while Danny Boy barters the life out of everything.
It’s not going to miraculously get better , majority of the football we’ve served up has been atrocious for a while , small squad ran into the ground , players forced to play positions they’re not good in , players seeing out contracts , other players neglected.
Everyone looks miserable and it’s evidently transfering onto the pitch.
What/Where is the project going???
If struggling to stay top 4 is the be all and end all on a comparatively shoe string budget then there is no Ambition in the side which does not create enthusiasm or winners mentality

Dele Ali had the raw ingredients to become the next box to box dynamic English midfielder, somehow he’s devolved into a nothing airy fairy No.10 wannabe playboy with little to offer the team. He’s not even scoring anymore. There’s no discipline in coaching now, no focus and players drift into off the pitch distractions. Deles done for Spurs I feel.

Well he did score against the Arse – that has to count as something? I know it was a tap-in but he made a long run to get into the box. Not really something you would associate with a player who doesn’t want to be there. I didn’t watch much of the game on Wednesday but from what I heard from my son yes CE had a shocker but he did work his socks off trying to make amends. For the time being he is still a Spurs player and our only creative option so let’s get behind him as long as he is putting the effort in on the pitch.

The hand ball rule, meaning clearly unintentional handball and ratified by VAR, that there was no deliberate movement of the arm towards the ball should be scrapped.

Without VAR it was easier to trick the officials with handballs but giving unintended handball using VAR is complete bullshit.

I don’t think he has ever been a consistent performer. This is just being highlighted now because of his contract situation. For example, he went through a purple patch of scoring freekicks a couple of years ago, what happened to that? I can’t remember the last time he scored from one

I cant understand CE…if you were going to turn in a 10 out of 10 it would be the CL not a 2nd half against Villa. He did nothing against Arsenal then played excellent against Palace. I just don’t get the guy. Its starting to make me think that its not his mind, but his talents are too easy to stifle.

Enough is enough now. You got Bale having that special goal disallowed for brushing his arm then the ball bounces off a Juventus players arm and Atletico don’t get a penalty, no VAR check. Nada. When are these utter clowns at UEFA going to sort this out, its an utter shambles. Change the handball rule back. FUCK VAR, offsides at a push, the rest is ambiguous. Joke

I disagree – I agree its run out of steam, but it has not failed, ENIC failed to back it. We have not bought to improve since Sanchez, rest of purchases were to back fill people that have left or trying to leave, or were squad players that got lucky. We need to buy to improve.

As far as ENIC fc goes, even after the ugly start the league position is still 3rd. There’s no consistent competition to punish Levy’s neglect so nothings changing.

Full strength I was expecting a win of about 2-0. When I saw the team I thought a draw would be a good result. As far as losing, Olympiacos are a very very poor defensive side, and limited to basically 2 real threats going forward. in the PL they would be lucky to be mid table. Bayern will put them in their place.

100% agree.

The situation with Eriksen (the fact he’s even still at the club) is yet another Levy masterminded anti-football one. This is putting profit & balance sheets above progress on the pitch, as fucking usual.

Poch has to try and progress a squad that has become stale and quite a little possibly complacent. The lack of activity in the transfer market over the last three seasons will not have helped at all.

Sorry, Levy apologists but it’s clear that Poch would like more from Levy and the bald twat just ain’t budging…

To be honest, I was expecting either a 1 – 0 loss or a draw before the game. Never in a month of Sundays did I believe we were going to wallop them 4 or 5 nil. Sanchez at right back again was an accident waiting to happen. That should not have surprised Poch. Could Eric the half-bee been any worse? He must be wondering hat he has to do to get a start. Just wait until he finds out Dele’s been lacing his Gatorade with ketamine for a bit of banter.

This was another UEFA choreographed performance. The team selection is a big clue under the guise of rotation and 7 games in 21 days. We are rubbish when we tinker with the team set up. So the disjointed performance is no surprise. Not sure why Verts was not his usual self though but there always seems to be one player who has a mare that leads to opposition goals.

Everyone needs to stop overreacting. Destroying palace didnt make us world beaters and last nights laboured dross doesnt mean we should bin everyone off for some acadamy prospect.

Leicester were shit against Utd in the battle for 6th place last weekend.

Sanchez at right back was enough to unbalance the whole team.

That and are utter reliance on Eriksen to create for us. He stunk the place out last nigt and even looked a bit fat.

Dont over react, man

Eriksen is a massive headache now – that was a1 out of 10 performance.

Having to keep Sanchez happy with game time at right back is also a worry.

Having squandered an undeserved 2 goal lead against the run of play, unimpressed watching this turgid performance against a talented Olympiakos side much hungrier and quicker to the ball. Laboured and pedestrian throughout not sure where this side is going but seemingly not very far. Sell Alli in January me thinks. This Lyon bloke does not cut it for me nor does stroller Eriksen. Neat and tidy Winksy tries hard but devoid of creativity and lacking that incisive pass aint the answer. Hardly overworking the oppositon keeper we huffed an puffed in the second half to nil effect. Yes IMO selfish Alli should have squared the ball to Kane to make it 3-2.
Son who should probably have played from the start made a minimal contribution when he came on.

We clearly haven’t settled and the need for the rigorous rebuild that Poch wanted comes more sharply into focus after a performance like tonight.

Eriksen and Verts looked unfocused, but having said they collectively lacked intensity. As Poch said after the match, this wasn’t about quality, it was about application and focus. He also seemed annoyed as they didn’t seem to stick to instructions.

Winks looks up for it again, our best midfielder in the last two matches. As long as we improve this may look like a decent point in the greater scheme of things. The performance was extremely flat and Eriksen was garbage…

When are we going to get a proper lb and rb and stop with this rubbish of playing Sanchez as rb and playing Ben Davies atall. Until we sort out the situation created when Walker left and Rose got injured we will always be also rans. We lack pace and width. Liverpool and Man City realised this and sorted it and we just continually fanny about trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

The fact is that the brand of football we are playing under Pooch is generally poor. We lack width, creativity and pace. If Pooch thinks Ben Davies is good enough then that says a lot to me about his ability as a coach. We have desperately needed quality wingbacks for years now and still we F88k about with trying to fit players into positions they are not equipped for. Eriksen is doing himself no favours if he is trying to convince RM to bid for him. He was pants today, What is the point of Deli Ali at the moment? What exactly does he add to the team ?

remember a few seasons back when we were young and hungry they said our team was worth the 2nd or 3rd most expensive team in Europe if we sold them all…..look at that now, 3 of them are going for free, Lamela and Deli are worth about 25-30m each and Hugo wouldn’t get much…its only Kane & Son that would fetch big fee’s now..

2-0 and we fucked it up… Twice so far this season and it’s only 6 games old! This is one of those habits that will stop us winning anything, teams won’t give up, they know we need at least 3 just to be remotely safe. Poch needs to sort it out. A top team should never fail to win from a 2 goal lead.

Funny innit, Scousers can’t improve on last season’s defeat away at Napoli and it’s all just a blip. We have Champions League points with a draw away and they don’t, yet we are going to the dogs?

If there’s one team we really need to beat this season it’s Liverpool. Everyone else is making them look good. All of the top teams are breaking previous points tallies and winning run records because the league is so lopsided.

Before they splashed out on Allison and Van Dyke we were finishing above them. If Poch has similar backing it would have stayed like that.

Klopp is overrated in my opinion compared to Poch. There no way Klopp could do what Poch has done with our squad, we just have a twat of a chairman who handicaps and undermines every manager he ever appoints.

Having said all this, the media hate Spurs. Cheatski, Scouse lose and we draw and we get all the flak.

Its weird how they’ve named it the CHAMPIONS league but most teams finished 3rd or 4th. They should bring back the European cup and the 3rd and 4ths can be the UEFA again, then the Europa League will be gone and there will be a competition that’s more appealing.
