I see Kane going on for as long as Sheringham and playing until he is around 40. He is fit, mentally strong and driven and will simply change the way he plays as he ages like Giggs did at Manchester United. It’s a very dangerous president selling your best player as it sends out the wrong message. However, if Kane wants to go there is little Tottenham can do other than get the best possible price and, as you say, also try to get players thrown in if there is anyone decent being offered.
It would never have been £80m to £100m in the summer just 6 months before he went for £16m. With a year left on his contract it would have been around £30m. The press bandy around ridiculous figures. I’ll disagree with Jordan on only one point where he says Daniel pushed and pushed until he got what he wanted with Eriksen.
No, he got nowhere near his valuation of Eriksen, the Dane let his contract run down to get his big move and Spurs lost big money on him.
