28-year-old informs Tottenham of desire to leave the club

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is set to leave the club this summer, seeking more regular playing time ahead of the upcoming Euros.

The Danish international, who has found himself lower in the pecking order under manager Ange Postecoglou, has been linked with a move away since last summer.

Despite his desire for more minutes on the pitch, Hojbjerg opted to stay with Tottenham for the remainder of the season to help the team through an injury crisis.

However, with Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur preferred in the midfield, Hojbjerg’s playing time has significantly decreased.

According to Pete O’Rourke on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Hojbjerg has informed the club that he is seeking a move to secure first-team football elsewhere.

The Danish midfielder is reportedly keen on a move to Serie A, with AC Milan, Juventus, and Napoli all expressing interest in his services.

The intent to leave is evident, with the player recently signing with a new agency in order to evaluate all options available to him going into the transfer window.

Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2020 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most consistent performers.

However, his style of play, which is more suited to a defensively focused setup, does not align with the attacking style preferred by Postecoglou.

As a result, Hojbjerg has seen his minutes reduced, prompting him to seek opportunities elsewhere. Tottenham ARE also looking to offload the midfielder as part of their summer squad overhaul.
