27-year-old the ‘first choice’ for Tottenham as they look to improve their attack

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on improving their attacking options in the coming months and they are looking at a number of strikers.

A report from Calciomercato. It claims that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is one of the names on their shortlist, but the 24-year-old Nigerian international is not the first name they are looking at.

Apparently, Brentford striker Ivan Toney is the ‘first choice’ for the London club.

The 27-year-old is expected to leave Brentford during the January transfer window and he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Harry Kane. The England international left Tottenham at the start of the season and Toney could certainly fill the goalscoring void left by him.

Spurs would have expected Brazilian international Richarlison to step up and take over the goal-scoring responsibilities. However, he has not been at his best this season and South Korean international Son Heung-min has had to carry the Tottenham attack.

The north London outfit will need to sign a reliable finisher if they want to return to the Champions League and compete for trophies. Toney has proven himself in the Premier League and he is a reliable performer. He will add goals and physicality to the Tottenham attack and he could prove to be an upgrade on Richarlison as well.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can agree on a reasonable fee with Brentford. The striker will be determined to take the next step in his career and join a big club. The opportunity to play for Tottenham will be an exciting option for him.
